its my first christmas living with my boyfriend, weve jointly decided on no decorations, because there expensive and our kittens will just chew and climb up them, he's alreay spent alot of money on me for xmas and wants to buy more, and we'd have liked to spend christmas day together.....
but, when i moved out, my mum made me promise i would go to her house for xmas dinner, but my boyfriend wont come with me, he's a vegetarian, and he doenst like my mum too much, and i understand why, (she's not the nicest of people, she means well, but doesnt really help)
he wants to go to his mums house and see his great aunty, and help his mum have a nice xmas. Id personaly like to be there too, he has a nice family. So now i have to make sure i spend a decent amout of time with my family before travelling in the cold and ice on my moped, to go see my boy friend and his family.
does anyone else have xmas as difficult as this?! :(

I wish Christmas didn't exist. Being in one room with all your family 1 day a year (well less than an hour) is pure torture for me as you can cut the tension in the air with & knife & it's just plain uncomfortable & I want to escape.
Last year I went to a park & sat on my own for a while on Christmas day due to me not being able to hack being in my house with such a crappy atmosphere.

sorry to hear your family are causing you probs being on your own might be the best solution x

My older sister's done that before. But that was when my granddad was alive, and he was a bit, erm...critical.
She just couldn't stand it anymore and left to go for a walk.
Nowadays it's ok I guess, I still hate Christmas with a passion, as I hate the fact that I have to stay downstairs all day. Absolutely hate it. It just sucks arse...I'm an on-my-own kind of person.

Yeah, im kinda in the same situation. I moved in with my bf and I have no idea how xmas is going to work out.
Bf does not celebrate xmas but I want to be with him on xmas day...and also be with my family....
I don't know what to do. See what happens I suppose.

I'd *love* to spend christmas with my other half - somehow it doesn't look like it's going to hapen this year - like last year :(
The thing is though if he was over here over christmas - one I'd feel guilty that he didn't get to spend it with his family and two I'd have to drag him to my grandmother's house and get him to spend christmas with my family.
I really hate christmas but it's just.. I dunno... just feels like it should be spent with family
maybe next year and we can have both families together *deluded*

Hence the reason i usually spend most of my xmas day in the pub :) Luckily this year i have my horse and i couldn't possibly neglect her (quick escape route) so i shall be out of the house.
My mum just gets so tetchy and irate at xmas (there's only 3 of us. maybe 4 with my grandad) but even when dad and i cooked last year she was just an emotional minefield.
