Problem with .wmv's

If I play a .wmv it will play but it will be really slow and jumpy and if I try and move the slider along to skip a few minutes the screen just sits there as if it's paused and maybe if I'm lucky I'll get the sound and the picture I had before I skiped it.

Any suggestions?

Nope, any .wav I play on my PC is like it. I'm wondering if I need tp maybe update a driver maybe?

I've just downloaded Media Player Classic again and they seem to work ok. Maybe it was Winamp being a funny so & so? Will download those codecs your on about, see if they work with Winamp.
