View Full Version : america's running us into the ground.....

Senor Miguel

not only financially, as the world's economy depends highly on the state of the dollar, which is in a right state and looks to get worse....

not only through global stability, threatened further by our crusades into afghanistan and iraq, virtually the whole middle east distrusts america and their motives, with good reason.......

through numerous other foreign policies which impoverish and piss the rest of the world off.......

the cheeky buggers only account for 4% of the population, yet they produce 25% of the pollution worldwide. my message to you americans who know all this and still cant see how you're fucking the rest of us up, shove those gas-guzzlers up your ass.

Why?

Why should the rest of the world suffer because the Americans 'need' these Massive Gas guzzling cars just to make trips to the shops? Is there something wrong with smaller cars?

If America was still run by native american indians, I excpect (at least environmentally) we would be far better off. We are no innocents in this though, it was Britain who started the first industrial revolution after all. We were the source of all the pollution. But in this day and age when we know it is damaging not only our, but our childrens', and our children's childrens', and every animals' and every plants' Earth, because after all we are not the sole occupants. You wouldn't go into a flat and start a fire to make whatever until the walls were completely black with soot would you?

5% i stand corrected, you're still polluting our air.........oh im an arsehole? if you approve of america's actions i cant think of an appropriate superlative, they are reckless in their regard towards the rest of us, and if you dont like it, you must be anti-american and hey presto your a terrorist, so they've got that wrapped up nicely.......dont get me wrong im sure the people are nice enough, but if they are too dumb to see their government is turning the rest of the world against them, then quite frankly they're just as bad......ignorance doesnt excuse stupidity.

apollo, i see your point, but you can't put all Americans into this stereotype...

America’s record on pollution is pretty shameful. And as Michael Howard pointed out Blair has ‘squandered his position as Bush’s close ally in Iraq’ to try and get Bush to do agree to Kyoto…

True. It’s unfair how many make xenophobic stereotypes about Americans and massive generalisations.

the more people scream and kick against this absurdly greedy nation the more of them might stop and think.

Australia produces more CO2 per capita.

Not all Americans are stupid and inward-looking. Sadly they have chosen a leader who is.

Yes, but there are 20 million Australians. There are 300 million Americans. Even if Australia does create more CO2 per capita, this still poses much less of a problem than America's contribution per capita, because there are so many of them. I realise that to say all Americans are gas guzzlers is stereotyping, but you cannot avoid the amounts of emissions they produce.

they aint going to listen unless the whole nation is targeted as being responsible.
when americans discover that 80% of the worlds population is pissed off with them ...they might actualy do something about it.

Point being that if you are going to attack any nation for being gas-guzzlers you should start with Australia, not the one we love to hate.

No. Play fair. If you're going to focus on emissions, make sure you have perspective. America may produce more emissions overall but individually they are not as bad as the Australians.

plus the fact that they are making the world a more dangerous and unstable place for all of us.
people were frightened that bush might actualy get into the whitehouse ...frightened cos of the wars ...the poverty ...the global instability that would happen should he get into office ...here we are a few years down the road and all these things have come to pass ...the american nation needs waking up.

Australia has to survive, they barely make any money from exports so they essentially have to be self sufficient in many aspects if they're to continue to exist as a nation. As a nation, they are one of the least troublesome.

I can see Matadore now as an old man explaining to his grandchildren how he cheered for those who mortgaged their economic prospects to the hilt and removed the last safeguards to complete corporate degradation of the remaining life sustaining elements of our biosphere so they could wage a bogus war against a tactic that could not be stopped by guns and bombs.

As they listen attentively, breathing through respirators, he can reiterate how glad he was that Americans didnt give a shit about what anyone else thought.

Actually, as I understand it there are many people in the US that are concerned about the opinion of the rest of the world. We're supposed to love america, and when we don't, in fact, when we're furious, it begs the question 'why?'.

It's not great to 'not care' about what the world thinks, we all need to be held accountable to the world community, no-one is any good without allies. America may be the world's only superpower, but if they piss enough people off they won't stay there.

and we have many people who do care about the environment and are trying to fight against the government
