Seriously though, this was to be expected. The lad's very good and has potential to become even better, but that's about it. I think some people were expecting him to score a hat-trick every game...

Good that things are coming down now... I'm starting to get very tired of "We will have World Cup Glory Thanks to Rooney" bullshit headlines in the tabloid press.

The fact that the hype's starting to die down is definately a good thing. He's an outstanding player, especially considering he's only 18 years old, but still shows a hell of a lot of inexperience in his game. He needs to be able to continue to elarn and improve without a constant media following. I think Alex Ferguson is one of the best managers for developing players like this. We definately have another English legend on the way (if he's not one already...)
