I think you'll find that they would have to abdicate (under existing laws) for that very reason.
Of course, nothing stops Parliament changing the law...

Can I ask you what would happen if a Queen/King use their constitutional right to veto any parliament’s bill? I think it would be the last day of British monarchy… please I can’t know this for sure maybe there are much more monarchists in UK than I think and there would be some political battle… I got no doubts who will win though..
So sad….
Whatever a monarch did… things a publicly elected or a publicly adopted ruler is free to do are much more disgusting. No one Chinese, German, French, Russian, Cambodian emperor for two thousands years wasn’t able to make more harm to their people than Mao, Hitler, Robespierre, Lenin, Pol Pot and other popular mass idols … Cromwell, that Tony Blair of 17th cen was much worse than all Tudors and Stuarts put together- if not all Englishmen think so I’m sure all Irishmen who know a bit of history know this exactly…

This is the point! If nothing can stop them then what the hell can stop them? Nothing?
Doesn't Democracy scare you?
