id this a genuine attempt to stop people binge drinking or mainly a way to increase profits?

attitudes need to change not prices

Exactly. Some things cannot change by simply manipulating prices and availability. A more 'sensible' attitude to alcohol is required in this country.

Thats exactly it mate. Attitudes do need to change.

When people go out their intension is to get pissed out of their brains and do silly things!

it isnt always everyones intention

and i dont think stopping happy hour is a good thing
stopping happy hours that go on for 4/5 hours is a good thing

they need to come down heavy on all those pubs and bars that done understand the concept of an hour

I think it's a good thing.. I hate drunk peoples.

I think if the drinks weren't so cheap then maybe people would take their time and not try and inhale as much as they can

will they still be doing all the special offers though.. like wooo a gallon of alcohol for £1.50 (yes I'm exaggerating)

Happy hours don't have a huge impact, in all honesty.

If you want to stop binge drinking, you need to end the 11pm chucking-out time.

What is wrong is when it is cheaper to buy a double measure than two singles- that makes people drink more than they wanted to, as they don't want to miss out on a "deal".

They have banned happy hour all down Broad Street in Birmingham. Not impressed to be honest.

Although I can see what they are getting at. Most of the bars have 2 for 1 drinks before 10 pm, and you have to guzzle them down quickly in order to go somewhere else (as most places charge entry after 10pm).

I definitely drink less when I go out because the drinks are so expensive.

I don't see why everyone has to be penalised because of the minority of idiots though.

I don't especially want to, but my friends refuse to go anywhere else.
