Degree

Qualification awarded after the successful completion of undergraduate study. BA (Bachelor of Arts) for a first degree in Arts and BSc (Bachelor of Science) for a first degree in Science, are the two most common undergraduate degrees. Degrees can be studied as a single subject (single honours), two subjects (joint honours) or two or three subjects (combined honours).

Click here for more information (http://www.universityoptions.co.uk/students/1/6.asp)

Degree classifications
Honours degrees are divided into 4 ‘classes’:
1 - or first class, the highest level over
2.1 – upper second class
2.2 - lower second class
3 – third class
A degree without honours is known as a ‘pass’ degree or an ordinary degree.

Not sure the grades you have to get to get each class, for example a first may be given if results are over over 70%, a 2:1 may be given if the results are between 60% and 69%. by the way im just using these figures for examples. your class depends on your grades, a first is the best.

on my course (possibly in the whole of leeds uni, but our course is a bit kooky, so maybe just us) it went kinda like this:

80-90 - we only got marked out of 80 on our course, but certain modules outside the course people got marks out of 90. which is really good. like really fucking good.
70 - 80 - first
60-70 - 2:1
50-60 - 2:2
40-50 third
35-40 - you've passed, but you suck. or it was very, very late.
< 35 - oh dear.

basically how it worked out for us, is a paper that would get an A grade at A level is a high 2:2, possibly a low 2:1.

I found out a few weeks ago that I've failed my BND in Care on a stupid assessment. I'm doing it again now and will hopefully qualify by Christmas. I'm really angry with edexcel with how they've assessed me though.

There's no point in worrying until you know you've got something to worry about. (:
