Around £40-£50 I think. One of my friends chipped his own for about £10 but he's done it permenantly, which means no x-box live (it detects the chip and makes it not work or something).

You can buy a CD that will change your Xbox to region free. I think.

As as I know there was no release of a region free disc for the xbox - certainly freeloader seem to of had a few quid under the counter the end development
As to your xbox playing the dvd - if it was bought in Europe it will play region 2 - but I'm pretty certain the xbox requires the dvd playback kit to play dvds (about 10/20 quid?).

Yea, it's because you need a bloody remote. But I've got one so it's ok :D

You can chip your xbox with a switch (some chips have them, on others you have to put one on yourself), which means if you want to play on xbox live you just turn of the chip :D
And about dvds, it doesnt matter what country you got your xbox in, its the counry you got your remote in! So if you want region 2 you need a european remote. Once you use it it will lock it to that region.
That means if you have a region 2 dvd player in england, and you have an xbox, you can buy an american remote and watch import dvds! :D

Can you switch between the US and European remotes and multi region that way? or does it lock it totally to one or the other?
I'm assuming it locks it, but just had to ask ;)

It locks it :( bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeh some people want to chip their Xbox's to watch multi region dvds, but its probably cheaper to buy a brand new dvd player with all the features.... and u dont get that annoying hummmmmmmmm sound when the quiet tense part of the movie is on!!!!
