What took so long? Why were they treated as prisonors? If we did that to them for no reason we would have the world on our backs.

I don't know what took them so long... They were probably trying to score cheap political points or something. :rolleyes:

Apparently the Republican Guards, who caught the British soldiers, are faithful to the hardliners in the government. I doubt the reformists in the government would have approved of the pointless delay in the release and the parading of the soldiers blindfolded on TV.

I can't help but think that the blindfolding and parading was a reference to the coalition forces' own acts on Iraqi prisoners. Probably intended to embarrass the British government as well (''how can you protest about blindfolding and showing footage of British prisoners when you're doing the same to others", type of thing).

Anyway, good to see the incident has not ended up being more serious.

Iran really doesn't understand what will happen if it doesn't play ball, does it?
