Having sex with an animal has become a criminal offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, but before then it was not illegal. If the animal was hurt, and it was owned by a farmer, it could be animal cruelty or criminal damage, but for the most part animals weren't hurt.

Who is it hurting though? Are you seriously telling me that if a horse didn't want to be interfered with it would just stand there and let the interferor do it anyway? Same with dogs, sheep, whatever. If the female doesn't want to know it lets the man know. Painfully.
