IS there anywhere I can download a free firewall on a 56k dial up modem, I'm in the middle of protecting my pc but can't afford expensive stuff, I've got windows me so It doesn't have a firewall with it (atleast I don't think it does) and Also will programs like msn, aim and yahoo still run the same etc..
There's loads of free firewalls
See link

And things will still run, just a little slower

See the review I saw on a website said zonealarm was total shit..in not so many words

ZoneAlarm (new ver 3.1) is still free for personal use but in crippled form. ZoneLabs produces a product full blown product called ZoneAlarm plus. The plus versions supports many new features that won’t make it into the cripple version like e-mail attachment protection, automatic trusted printer and file sharing when you move your laptop between LAN's, advanced IP blocking, ad blocking, popup-window protection, and more. Without email proetction, the cripple ware free version is pretty worthless
I got something called agnitum? any good?

I use ZA Pro and you don't really need email protection if your anti-virus does that.
Agnitum is ok I think. You might wanna have a look at Tiny personal firewall and Blackice.
