I never understood why women wear high heels anyway. Except maybe if they're very short, but that's vanity.
budda
21-05-2004, 11:44 AM
They elongate the thigh and ankle, thus making the leg look longer and leaner than it really is.

faking a nice leg?

Basically, yes.
There is also the long association between high heels and tradional views of 'sexy' women. And of course there is the implied domination type hints that go with high heels as well. Its a rich tapestry.
Dear Wendy

He's right. But high-heels are prettysome...
budda
21-05-2004, 12:00 PM
I wasnt suggesting that they dont look good, some women can really pull them off and look spectacular.
BUT, and its a HUGE but, you have to be able to walk in them. Tottering around in high heels is not sexy, its just tragic.
Dear Wendy
21-05-2004, 12:03 PM
I can walk with them. I wouldn't make a fool of myself. But it fucking hurts after a night out. The last few metres before you reach home are always the worst.
budda
21-05-2004, 12:08 PM
I wasnt in anyway suggesting that you would make a fool of yourself. I was just saying that you do see quite a lot of women who would look better, and be in less pain, if they just picked a heel slightly less high.

Choose practical over "prettysome". If they hurt you so much, simply don't wear them.

Why doesnt she just wear a track suit and trainers at all times then?

21-05-2004, 12:15 PM
i've seen the way my mums feet have turned out after years of heels. and i've felt the pain of wearing them, therefore i only wear small heels now which still look pretty but are far comfier.

Do they just have a top half? Whats the point in that?
Dear Wendy

I have always worn orthopeadecally correct shoes. Wearing heels one time a month wont ruin my feet.
It's everyday shoes that make the difference, really.

Give me a nice pair of trainers anyday!
Last time I went out my mates hid my trainers so I had to wear heels. It backfired cos they had to listen to me whinging all night that my feet hurt

the only times i wear heels are when we have a gig. i almost fell backwards onto the drumkit last time. luckily the trumpet guy steadied me before i went tragic.

I luv wearing heels, wear medium ones everyday and huge mo'fuckers when I got out lol :D
Nah, am reasonable, I always make sure I CAN actually walk in them...properly an' all. I guess 'cus I started wearing them when I was youngish too so, but anyway I fink if they look classy (not big clonks lol) then they add a touch of purrtyness to a girl
big heels put extra strain on your knees. My cousin had to have knee surgery after years of wearing them.
Now she don't wear heals.
They can't hurt that much, your wearing them the right way up right jacquline?

shoes are so overrated. especially heals. i own one pair now cuz my parents bought them for me and i've never worn them. if i can't wear my tennis shoes or sandals then theres just no point.

I find it so funny how women always compliment each other on their shoes when they are the most fucking awful things ever.
For example:
http://www.loralie.com/shoes/277201.jpg
Those are ugly.
http://www.missselfridge.co.uk/stores/miss/images/product/MSD14/MSD14-ms.jpg
Those are uglier
Sometimes I can tolerate shoes with heels are they're not overly painful to look at. On the other hand, there is not a pair of flat shoes in the world that look good. Women should also be aware that any man who compliments them on their shoes is a lier and is trying to get sex.

I wear heels because I've got short legs and they elongate them. I only wear them when I go out though, about once or twice a month (I mean really go out - not just to cinema or whatever) so I doubt I'm doing too much harm.

I'm a big believer in varying the height of your shoes - you can do just as much damage wearing flat shoes everyday and walking improperly in them as you can in heels.
The highest I have are my 3 in. dance shoes, which I shall be wearing later to waltz in.
I tend to be barefooted around the house, which lets my feet 'breathe'
Heels are also very helpful when you're 5'2 and your other half is 6'4
heels are shit. they can fuck off.
infact all girls can fuck off

Pumps can look quite nice actually.
Either way for whoever said that Faiths All-Star imitation are a crap quality, it isn't as if the original ones are of a good one. Better maybe, but not good.
I have them in pink. And while they look lovely, it's the worst pair of shoes I've ever owned.

i've had a pair of each for about the same amount of time. 3 years or so, i think.
the allstars are faded and the rubber is yellow, but they're still in one piece.
the faith ones have completely fallen apart. and i probably only wore these half as much as the others.

faith shoes generally are crappy quality, i've had a couple of pairs of trainers from there and they wear away really fast. I HATE spending a lot of money on shoes (except really pretty ones :)) but i think i'm gonna have to start investing in better quality soon.

i admit its annoying being a foot shorter than my bloke, but he'd much rather bend down to kiss me rather than having to put up with me moaning about my poor feet on a night out if im wearing heals!
having said that, i used to have the most gorgeous pair of cord boots with an inch kitten heal and pointy toe and they were so unbelievably comfortable... wore them out once to a fancy dres party and snapped the heal off. went back to schuh to get a replacement and they had just stopped selling them, no more anywhere:( i was not happy!
