Hi, just wondering who here likes rap, and who here doesn't lol.
Been listening to it for a few years, and know relatively a lot about it.
My favourite rapper for a long time has been Twista, not cause of his new hit Slow Jamz. Not only is that old in the world of Twista now, but it's nothing compared to what he's actually done.
What's your guys top rappers, your favourite 6 lets say
Favourite Rappers (not in order)
Eminem
Twista
Royce Da 5'9
Ludacris
Jadakiss
Nas
there are so many rappers, so this isn't easy.
anyone who says eminem is crap, is either saying it because there racist or because there not listening properly. altho each to there own with opinions..... who is the best, wether he's my favourite or not, he is the best, without a doubt. his wordplay, style, emotion, EVERYTHING, even his production is amazing.
luda just has that awesome style, rocyce is the black version of eminem in my point of view, and can freestyle just as good, them two made a great duo, which all that fuck ups never happened... twista is my favourite, cos theres no one that can lay flow down like he does... jada adds the MWAH to anything he spits on, and nas rolls out some of the hottest shit i ever heard, he DESERVES to name his previous album Gods son!
anyways there's so much shit in rap to go over, so if you all just give me your insight into it.

I like it to an extent, well only eminem, dre, d12 and twisa really.
Iv liked d12, eminem and dre for ever and never will stop liking them. Iv liked twista for the last year or so but nothing too special.

seeing as you like people from the shady/aftermath records, i'd say the best artist there are
eminem
dre
proof
lloyd banks
thats my personal opinion
even though there are other excellent producers out there, no one in my eyes has yet touched dre, he's on top of the game, shame his albums been postponed till everyone else on the label drops there album first, so he can do a major tour next year, but its worth the wait.
dre is a very talented rapper as well

Oh, and Eminem is crap. His stuff pre-Slim Shady LP was good, and he does have alot of talent, but he chooses to waste alot of it on cheesy, commercial, pish.

Oh, and Eminem is crap. His stuff pre-Slim Shady LP was good, and he does have alot of talent, but he chooses to waste alot of it on cheesy, commercial, pish. [/B] So therefor he isn't crap, you just don't agree with the way in which he uses his talents
if you can give me a better answer than "he's commercial" you'll have a good arguement, can you tell me WHY you think he's crap?... uncommercial or not, doens't make someone crap.

Uhhh yeah... in much the same way as if Ronaldo played defence, he would be deemed as a crap defender, geddit?

I just did tell you why I think he's crap - he's too cheesy and commercial. Cheese is literally the only kind of music I actually can't stand listening to.
uncommercial or not, doens't make someone crap.
Ah yeah, Scooter, Flip 'n' Fill, Busted, McFly... all grade A, top quality performers!

Why you gotta go and get all sarcastic on me for, everyone has different views, and if they do, I like to understand them fully, and in your case, i'm not getting what I would consider a very good arguement.Uhhh yeah... in much the same way as if Ronaldo played defence, he would be deemed as a crap defender, geddit?Okay, this wouldn't make Ronaldo crap, in your opinion, you think he'd be better if he played up front as a striker, BUT, he's still a proffesional footballer with imense skill, which therefor clarifies that he ain't crap.he's too cheesy and commercial. How So? ... On his first few albums he rapped about many things, life, fucked up shit, and more fucked up shit... His latter albums such as The Eminem Show related to his life, he spoke from his heart, and spit some of the best lyrics I've ever heard, with great flow, emotion, style, esssence, wordplay and creativity. He combines words people would never think of, he ryhmes with words that are un-rhymable, how exactly is that cheesey. Don't tell me he's cheesey and not tell me how.Ah yeah, Scooter, Flip 'n' Fill, Busted, McFly... all grade A, top quality performers!I never said those artists are good, I was just pointing out the fact, that wether someone is commercial or not commercial, doesn't realte to the answer of wether they are crap or not. As singers, Usher, Mario Winans and Jonny P, your saying they are crap because they are commercial... NO! If you have a reason why you dislike them, so be it, but even though they are commercial they can still be good, and they would still be good if they weren't commercial.... you cannot judge someone from that, it's pathetic.
Don't get me wrong, everyones intitled to their opinions, and to like who they like, if you don't like him, then so be it, but if your going to give me a reason, at least give me a descent one.

Yeah, everyone has different views. Just because we don't like Eminem doesn't mean we're racist or aren't listening properly, we just don't like him. There's not some big meaning behind it, and we don't need an argument to back it up because it's just a matter of preference.
Okay, this wouldn't make Ronaldo crap, in your opinion, you think he'd be better if he played up front as a striker, BUT, he's still a proffesional footballer with imense skill, which therefor clarifies that he ain't crap.
I didn't say he'd be crap, I said he'd be a crap defender. There's lots of players that if taken out of their usual position, are crap in other ones. The same goes for Eminem. Pre-Slim Shady LP he was great, and alot of his side projects are, but when you put him in cheesy songs, aimed for topping the charts, he is crap.
How So? Um, did you even read my original post? I said pre-Slim Shady LP. It was his newer stuff I said was cheesy, ie Without Me etc.
I never said those artists are good, I was just pointing out the fact, that wether someone is commercial or not commercial, doesn't realte to the answer of wether they are crap or not.
You seem to have misunderstood me. I said Eminem has talent. I know he has talent, but he uses it to make crap songs. That's where I was getting at with the Ronaldo analagy: he'd still have talent, but he'd make a crap defender. The other artists I mentioned may well have talent, but if they do I'm yet to hear it because they're using it to make crap music.
No, they're crap because they're... crap. 'Yeah' is the only song by Usher I've actually being able to listen to through without storming out of the room in protest or faking a seizure to get out of listening to.
Don't get me wrong, everyones intitled to their opinions, and to like who they like, if you don't like him, then so be it, but if your going to give me a reason, at least give me a descent one.
...Because I don't like him? It's not because he sings off-key, or offended some ideal my great-great-grandad fought and died for... I just don't fucking like his new stuff. K?

Who likes it, who doesn't? I most certainly don't. Just not something that I enjoy listening to as what I have heard generally I find rather boring.

I think it's a bit of a generalisation that anyone who says eminem is crap is either racist or not listening properly. I dont understand how not liking the music he makes can make me a racist. I have listened. He may be the best to you, but to me, I find him somewhat average for the genre. He doesn't stand out. In my opinion he is well and truly crap because his music has absolutely no appeal to me.

I don't know too much about this kind of music, but I like it a lot. Not the american kind though, in any such "song" (which is the appropriate word?) I've heard I either don't like the style or the lyrics.

De La Soul
Public Enemy
NWA
Jurassic 5
Early Dr. Dre and Early Snoop Dogg.

Method Man
Outkast
Wu-Tang Clan
Dilated Peoples
Ugly Duckling
Common
Jay-Z
Nas
N.E.R.D/The Neptunes
The Streets (!)
50 Cent, though he is extremely overrated.
I like Ghostface Killah's style but have heard very few songs of his.
I'm still waiting to get College Dropout, but I like the Kanye West's songs I have heard.
I'm not racist for not liking Emimen and my hearing is fine thanks.

really have gone off it recently, mainly because
a) im getting older and have started to appreciate REAL music (ie. stuff with actual instruments rather than some guy twiddling a few knobs here and there)
b) apart from a couple of rappers (mainly the older ones) everybody
used to deal drugs
flaunts their money like its about to run out
boasts about their large appendages (must be a requirement)
boasts about how many women they've got/have (even if they're as ugly as fuck, which most of them are)
theres probably more but im tired. its all the same and its all soooooo boring.

I was just over-exaggerating.Believe it or not, hip-hop fans can appreciate 'real' music too lol agreed, i love the way it's referred to as 'real' music haha. I love rap, but I like other music too, it's just I as well as probably a hell of a lot of other people, like to listen to rap more, or just have an interest in it.I'm still waiting to get College Dropout, but I like the Kanye West's songs I have heard.Great album, he's not only a great producer, but has the rapping talent to go with his producing skills. I highly reccomend you get this album.I didn't say he'd be crap, I said he'd be a crap defender. There's lots of players that if taken out of their usual position, are crap in other ones. The same goes for Eminem. Pre-Slim Shady LP he was great, and alot of his side projects are, but when you put him in cheesy songs, aimed for topping the charts, he is crap.
crap is a very strong word. I'm sure if you put Ronaldo in defense he wouldn't be crap. He might not play as well, but he certainly wouldn't be crap. So, did you not like Superman or Halies Song, or even White America? These beats aren't cheesey, in fact, in my opinion there rather good, and so are his lyrics. I'll agree that Without Me had a cheesey styled beat, but even so, what he was saying throughout the song, his lyrics were great. I understand you don't like him, I understand someone can turn around and say I don't like him because I don't like him, but I do like him, and for that reason, I'd like to know exactly why you dont? I'm not being an asshole, it's because I'm interested. If you told me Without Me had a cheesey beat, I could agree, if you said his lyrics didn't interest you in Superman, then i'd except your opinion, even though I think differently... it's just that I want to know why?Um, did you even read my original post? I said pre-Slim Shady LP. It was his newer stuff I said was cheesy, ie Without Me etc.Um, yes I did... LmAo, you and your sarcastic style of talking, I understood EXACTLY what you had written, I was just pointing out what he talked about in his older stuff... I was mainly talking about what he talks about in his newer stuff. No, they're crap because they're... crap. 'Yeah' is the only song by Usher I've actually being able to listen to through without storming out of the room in protest or faking a seizure to get out of listening to. Well, it's your opinion that their crap, i don't personally like Usher, but I know he's not crap, and I like mario Winans and Jonny P, who I don't think are crap at all, but oh, sorry, there too commercial for you aren't they...I just did tell you why I think he's crap - he's too cheesy and commercial. Cheese is literally the only kind of music I actually can't stand listening to.[quote]I just did tell you why I think he's crap - he's too cheesy and commercial. Cheese is literally the only kind of music I actually can't stand listening to.The way your putting this accross, is that because he's commercial, he's crap, which then means your saying who evers commercial is crap, if that's your view so be it, but I think it's a little unfair to generalise it because it's commercial, you should judge the music for the music, not because of wether it commercial or underground.
By the way, let me just make it a point that i'm not being an ass, I lvoe to discuss things, and I accept peoples views, I just like to talk a lot, and if i don't understand something, I bang on until I do. thats me.... say give "me" a big hello lol

I didn't start listening to hip hop properly untill last year. I was ignorent to its qualities untill then. Got a copy of De La Soul - 3 Feet High & Rising, and the rest as they say, is history.
I would recomend:
De La Soul
NWA
Ugly Ducking
Blackalicous
Jurassic 5
Ice Cube (the greatist hits is good)
A Tribe Called Quest
plus many more i've forgotten.
My favourite tune in the whole wide world:
