For anyone who doesnt know, the idea of this post is that u give between 5-10 discs that you would take if you had to go and live on a desert island, with a short comment as to why. Also feel free to comment on anyone elses list. Can be an album or single or mix tape....whatever.

Mine would be:

*808 State - Pacific: Possible my favorite piece of electronic music

*The Prodigy - Music For The jilted Generation: For the beats and the excellent 3 track 'Narcotic Suite' section at the end of the album.

*Marvin Gaye - Whats goin on: Timeless classic, also wikid chill out album.

*Public Enemy - Fear of a black Planet: Brilliant album, Chuck D has THE ultimate boomin' MC's voice

*Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy: I dont know why i love this but its great

*Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists OR holy bible: I cant decide (little help? )

*The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

*Metallica - Live Shit: Brilliant live show

Layla and other Assorted Love Songs - Derek and the Dominos. My favorite album ever. Doesn't get any better than this.

Venus Isle - Eric Johnson. One of those cheesy got me through difficult times albums.

The Black Crowes - Live. Catches one of the greatest bands ever at the height of their powers.

Joe Satriani - The Extremist. One of the best guitar albums ever.

Frank Zappa - Live in New York. Purely for the comedic genius of Titties and Beer.

The Essential Bruce Springsteen. The Boss and all his best songs.

Neil Young - Live Rust. Possible the greatest live album ever.

SRV - Live at Montreaux. Another legend at his peak.

Errrrr....... that's all I can think of.

Tool - Aenima

awesome cd, blows most other rock cds out of the water. Brilliant songs, especially Pushit, Third Eye & Stinkfist.

Tool - Lateralus

this cd is awesome too, needs to be heard as a complete cd, rather than a collection of songs (people you've heard it will know what I mean)

A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms

this cd just kicks ass, basically.

Mars Volta - Deloused In The Crematorium

wow!!! more like a story than a music cd.

Fugazi - Repeater + 3 Songs

best hardcore band ever.

Bad Religion - Process Of Belief

best album from the best punk band

Pearl Jam - Ten

best grunge album, pisses all over nevermind.

Definately the best rap album I've ever heard, gritty, dark and heavy.

Radiohead - Kid A
I love this album, a classic.

Hotel Yorba, Fell in love with a girl, The Protector

Leftfield - Leftism
:D

Other ones I'd take probably are:

I'm too fickle for lists like this. I'd take them with me and then change my mind after a couple of days. :(

Either Jamie Cullum - Twentysomething or Katie Melua- Call Off the Search. They make me want to sit in a chair and reminisce like an 70 year old and dance like I am seven again.

The Very Best of Louis Armstrong - the man is a legend, in my opinion. That voice, that trumpet playing. Good ol' Satchmo. This or a pre-Bad Michael Jackson album.

RHCP - Greatest Hits. I love them, and I have never met a person who has hated them. Thought they were overrated, or not that great, yes, but never a hater. That is just one of their attractions. OK, so there are a few tracks missing, but it is quite comprehensive.

Big Boi and Andre Present....Outkast. Best of Outkast pre- Hey Ya. Just a reminder of why I am slightly obssessive.

Royksopp - Melody AM. These guys introduced me to the wonderful world of chillout, which lead to electronica, which lead to Goldfrapp.

Totally forgot that one......so yyyyyggghhhhhhhh.....no. I dont think it would quite move anything else out if i had to save it from the sinking ship, very very closely but not quite. I'd have to listen to the Beach Boys relentless sunshine optimism as i pine for my lost Shirley :crying:

ahhh, to be 16 again.

Yeah totally (well 14-16), i would have to take something to remind me of my childhood. Any of these

*The Offspring - The Kids arent right

*Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP (this was HILARIOUS when i was 15, absolute throwaway offense and slander, superb)

*Nirvana - Aneurysm (Live) (i
fucked my house up moshing to this, dented doors and allsorts :D )

*Shades Of Rhythm - Sound Of Eden (anymoooooore.....)

*Green day - welcome to paradise

*Hole - Live through this

and......one movie.

*Donnie Darko - I love this film, its just brilliant. Gretchen Ross (Donnie's girlfreind) is gorgeous, my idea of the perfect woman. ( there is a thread here about Insecurity = Attractive (http://vbulletin.thesite.org.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64286) and this character symbolises this in the most attractive manner possible.

(watch the kiss that she gives Donnie when he runs after her, after she runs out of class.....after seeing that imagine what their little session upstairs at the party was like:naughty: ...pure passion, xcellent cinema)

NEW RULE: YOU CAN TAKE ONE PIECE OF CINEMA WITH YOU:)

Oh lordy, this is a tough one!

Ok.....

Lenny Kravitz, Greatest Hits : Cos he's sexy and I love his voice

Goo Goo Dolls, Dizzy Up The Girl : Can't live without 'em!

Art Pepper, The Vanguard Sessions : The most amazing saxophonist, love him!

Lauryn Hill, Miseducation Of... : She's beautiful!

No Doubt, Tragic Kingdom : Gwen rocks and the music is so unbelievably cool!

Garbage, Garbage : Can't help but love 'em!

Aretha Franklin, Greatest Hits : She's my driving buddy, can't go on a journey without her in my mode of transportation!

And my one piece of cinema?

Withnail and I, with Richard E Grant. The absolute most hilarious film I have ever seen in my entire life. It's amazing, I love it!! On a desert island with twigs up your bum and dangerous animals lurking in the bushes, it'll cheer you up, no doubt about it!
