I saw it ages ago and was pissed when i missed the first half last night! Apparently there's a manga version of it too. Can't wait to see the sequel!

The crazy kid in the black suit is the best character!

Ah the wonders of the edit button :D

If there was a battle royal in the u.k, would you sign up? I sure as hell would!

the manga version is a graphic novel, and it is sweet.
More like the br special edition, extra blood etc

Yeah, saw it last night on C4 for the first time. I'll bet they edited out a few scenes though.
I thought it was overhyped, and apart from the gory ending of some of them it was a bit too unfeasible, and unbelievable, to really grip me. It was still good though, but not great.

Is it just me, or was there something slightly erotic about cute Japanese school girls going on an orgy of violence and bloodlust? :nervous: I think this is what Manga and Anime relies on for part of its appeal, and Battle Royale is just a live action cartoon Manga style film.

Just remembered, there's a few cute Japanese girls living almost opposite me. One of them briefly smiled at me the other day while I was outside working on my car. Should I be scared now? :D

Quality film. Seen it ages ago and it never gets old.

Heh, I downloaded the sequel, but it had no subtitles. I was stoned so I watched it anyway. That was one of the craziest experiences of my life.

I never saw the end because I got tired and went to sleep, didn't know everyone had seen it. I think I might try and watch it all some time

Wonder if its on again soon...

Quality film. I was too squemish to watch the bit where jogging/cycling girl took a knife to the pervy guy's crotch.

However, the week after we watched the film, my friend got a bit obssessive, and started thinking which characters we would be if we were in the movie, and also what would happen if my year was put in a similar situation. It got quite scary to think the film has that great an impact on people. Just another thing that makes the film good.

The part with Kitano was excellent though! Maybe not entirely unexpected, but still funny!

The youth in Japan are out of control, unemployment is sky high and society is falling apart, it is all blamed on the youth. Once a year, the govt. selects a random class to go to an island to fight to the death, and the survivor gets to go home.

That's basically the storyline.

The same director for most of the film then Fukasaku died and his son completed it.
