Which new(ish) artist do you think will have a promising future? I mean, who in 10 years do you think will still be around, after having made an impact on the music scene?
Plus, who do you think is just an artist of the moment, the current 'in-thing'?

I agree with Franz Ferdinand, on first impression I thought they'd be like the Electric Six and only have a couple of decent songs but their album's pretty solid.
Another band I'd say are Hope of the States, even though there's no album to base this on yet, they seem to have avoided the god like status hype that have ruined other bands *cough* the Vines *cough*

It depends.
I'd say Will Young, and a lot of that is down to the fact that he appeals to a far wider audience than say Gareth Gates, or whoever else. Even usually snobby music critics see that he's got talent, and I personally think he'll develop well. he's almost a cut above your average 2 album wonder.
IMHO, lastabilty doesn't always = talent, it's probably sometimes more to do with people (often falsley) being able to relate to the music over a period of time. I mean, people still listen to Nirvana ffs, and I'd say a lot of that has to do with the media contrived pereception that KC was some sort of meaningful icon
And also, a lot of the folk I've been into over the last few years, I'll still be listening to them in 10 years time, because the memories that go with the music are just as important for me. Whether they'll still be having Number 1 albums all the time, I doubt. I doubt any of the bands mentioned so far will be that prevolent in 10 years time.

Myleen is winning best classical album and Will is going from strength to strength, writing his own material same as Busted.

I dont know really. Iv got a feeling The darkness will be one album wonders. But then again their next album might be just as good. If it is then they will be around in 10 years time.
Im not sure bout other artists/bands.
