There's so many riffs missing from that list. Cocaine, Satisfaction, Hard to Handle, Riverboat Song, Fire, Purple Haze and so on.

The Heartbreaker riff is the greatest ever.
Duh duh duh-dada-da duh-duhda-duh-da-duh-da-duh-duh etc....

No Pink Floyd.
Nirvana aren't that good.

Mind, if we were going to go on talent alone, all 20 places would be filled by Eric Clapton. The man is genius, even better if you get to see him alive.

Clapton is is indeed good, but better than Jimi Hendrix? Hmm I think not.

He's approximately 76,000 times better than Jimi Hendrix. Sure, Hendrix could play a guitar, but he could only ever play other people's music. Badly.

Clapton not only can play a guitar like no other, he can actually write songs, and write bloody good songs at that. And when he covers Dylan tracks, at least he covers them well, unlike Hendrix.

I saw him at Newcastle last Tuesday, Infinite- he was awesome.

EC has always blown Hendrix out of the water as a guitar player. For a fair comparison you have to put Cream-era Clapton up against Jimi. I'm sorry but there's no contest. Eric can create perfect solos on the spot where as Hendrix just noodled around. IMO anyway. Hendrix didn't write anything that had anywhere near the effect on people that Layla had.

If Clapton had died instead of Hendrix, EC wpuld probably be worshipped as a god instead.

Comfortably Numb is a brilliant song but it doesn't have any guitar riffs in it.

There aren't many Floyd songs you could put in there with classic riffs.

They aren't. Most overrated fucking band ever. I guarantee that if they were still around today, they would be on par with Linkin Park.

no way. and nirvana wouldn't be around today even if kurt was alive.

nirvana opened up the genre of rock for more interpretation and i think that their lyrics are very powerful, and inspiring.

Bollocks they did. Pearl Jam were infinately better than Nirvana. People only say 'Music wouldn't be the same today if it wasn't for Nirvana' because Kurt is dead.

pearl jam did nout, and their songs are annoying and all sound the same. nirvana gave a people music they could relate too, and then desided that they should go that too. ask anyone from muse to feeder(a crap band but anyway)..........it's musoc that gives hope. and kurt taught so many people a lesson: not to go as far as he did.......nirvana are not crap. no way

Kurt Cobain was the most pretentious bastard ever. Deny it all you like, the guy was a cock.

Pearl Jam probably influenced the same amount of bands, if not more. Nirvana were good. But not bearly as good as they're made out to be.

It's not.

Pearl Jam were shitloads better than Nirvana. And I've got no idea about the intricities of rock music, but he's right about the Linkin Park comparison.

And that makes you the same as a 10 year old teenybopper who's obsessed with Gareth Gates, only sadder because you'll more than likely never grow out of it.

Nirvana Vs Pearl Jam?

Nirvana win in terms of 'tunes', but with Eddie Vedders vocals, you dont even need tunes.

as far as grunge bands are concerned: Soundgarden > Alice In Chains > Nirvana

Nirvana aren't 'crap', but Pearl Jam are miles better. Plus Pearl Jam influenced Cobain in the first place.

And
Pearl Jam & Alice In Chains > Soundgarden > Nirvana > Mudhoney

nirvana are good but they aint as good and i must agree that they wouldnt be as famous if kurt cobain hadnt killed himself

soundgarden do rule though! :D

and as for guitar riffs, iron maiden ones are bloody brilliant, always never fail to impress, especially one at end of 'brave new world' - did u kno their bassist writes all the songs, bruce dickinson just sings only and helps wid lyrics, and that i live near the orginal ruskin arms 10mins walk and still showcasing new bands :p

I probably will get several people disagreeing with me here but:

WHERE THE HELL IS THIN LIZZY - THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN????!!!!

That riff is like.....duuuuuuuuuuuuuude :p

And that Top 20 is fucked up, seriously. Teen Spirit should NOT be before Back In Black. Never!

well for obvious reasons i though Edward the great was a grand album! but then thats almost all there best on one cd.

number of the beast was a work of sheer genius!

but what you said bout st anger... i think the same with them as maiden, all the early stuff was the best.
