Hey folks
Just thought i'd ask a few peeps opinions on this 1

I'm planning to go to the Australian National University in Canberra, assuming that i can get together the right amount of money that is.

Living in the UK, i'm surrounded by a university system that could be heading for disaster, and a country that i despise. I wanna get out, and i've done some research on migration to Australia. One of the things is that there is a means test, but you get extra points for being educated in Australia and you don't have to have any work experience. So i'm thinking, this is three years of my life in a country that i love, and i can live there (hopefully) at the end of it.

Do you think it's worth travelling around 24,000 miles just to go to university? I'd only come home once a year, my parents say they don't mind but i think they do....
I'd love to get some alternative points of view on this
Cheers

Well i can tell you that canberra uni is ace, it's quite new/modern and has a great rep. It's a bit more expensive than some others tho, but if you've got the money i'd go for it. Canberra is a very fun place to be, lots of live music, raves, arty shit and all that. Bit too cold tho, but i spose you'd be okay with that. I mean i don't think i could live anywhere it snowed! *shivers*

Also you wouldn't be far from syd so you could always go down there on weekends and stuff.

GO FOR IT BABY. i would love to emigrate and nearly did but i ended up getting back with the love of my life and it didn't happen. (working on it though... with a little persuasion...)

your parents love you and will be happy if you're happy. they'll be able to visit too, and you'll be broadening their horizons into the bargain. that's something my mother definitely thanked me for when i spent a year in oz.

life happens only once and you need to grab it by the throat and throttle it. remember - you always regret what you didn't do

You wouldn't mind sending some of that info over would you, sounds a good plan.

Now my advise is that if you don't have the money to pay fees and get hosuing somewhere, or can't borrow it from the family or from a bank - and you don't know if you can get a job easily to start paying off the debit; would it be a good idea?
