Personally I think he's got a point. If Scottish MPs have a taken a decision on this for Scotland without English MPs having a say, I can't see why they should be allowed a vote on this. The same goes for Northern Ireland or Wales if the situations the same there.

If top up fees will affect Scottish universities they should have insisted on a national vote and the live with the same decision as us.

I can't blame them for wanting the best situation for their constituents, its their job but it would be interesting to see if they made the same decision for England.

i'll probably get my head bitten but ...isn't this all over paying between 9 and fifteen quid a week back when your earnings are 20,000 grand a year? should your earnings drop at any time you don't pay till your earnings are back to 20,000 grand a year ...and should you opt out to become a house wife you don't pay anyway?
doesn't sound a lot to ask to me for what your getting.

I have wondered about the housewife question as I know several people who did this, I guess the taxpayer will end up making up the shortfall.
