Thomas cook has openly displayed it's dissent to the idea of having armed personelle onboard air-craft, as reported by the Guardian. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/Distribution/Redirect_Artifact/0,4678,2-1116858,00.html)

My question is this, do you think this will change the Govt's perspective on the idea? Should more airline operators (especially the larger ones like BA) come forward and do the same?

Yes. I hope they do. There is already suspicion that all these cancelled/delayed BA flights to Washington are little more than blackmail by the American and British governments to force BA, which is against armed guards, to comply.

I'm pretty sick of the whole thing. There have been terrorist attacks for most of the 20th century; and there will be terrorist attacks for decades to come. Until recently we all managed to get on with our lives just fine; but now our caring governments are trying to make us live in a semi-militarised permanent state of alert, fear, great government interference in most aspects of life and a massive reduction of civil liberties.

It's all scare mongering for political gain and a load of bollocks, and I wish they'd give it a rest.

Ahh yes, once again Globe doesn't fail to live up to his signature standard of substanceless response! Bravo.

The real sheep of course are those like yourself who question nothing but willingly salute militancy and paranoid authoritative control mechanisms wherever Washington sees fit to introduce them.

Tell us all again, as you have previously, how distrustful you are of government and government policies because you demonstrate quite the opposite on regular basis.

I can only think of one word: cowardice.
