Ive always wanted to go to New Yorkand ive finally realized that theres nothing stopping me:D .

But all my friends are in uni/college/are broke etc. so i will be going on my own:( (unless i wait till next summer but i cant wait that long).

ive had a look on the internet at citybreaks to new york. But all prices are based on 2 sharing and i have pay around £200 extra to go on my own!!

Does anyone know some special travel agents that do city breaks for singles?

I am hoping to do exactly the same thing next summer.

I found that the cheap way to do it would be to stay in a hostel. They are dirt cheap £20 - £30 a night instead of £100 - £150 that some of the hotels wanted.

Have a look here:

I stayed in a hostel there, it was £11.75 a night, which is less than £10. It was called Jazz on the Park hostel on the Upper West Side.

Virgin Atlantic do quite cheap flights to New York too.

I was there a little while ago and I cant say I was that impressed, its quite dirty, theres huge roads with loads of traffic, most of the buildings are ugly (but tall) and its expencive.

Stay in London insted its much better.

not sure if it has what you're looking for but I beleive any of these sites are fairly cheap.

I'm doing exactly the same next year except I'm going to Los Angeles, will be a bit scary going on my own but no one has the money to go with me, so I thought forget it I'm going my myself, nothing is going to stop me! :p

I wouldn't like to travel completely alone. As a girl, I wouldn't feel all that safe, think I would get bored, and it would restrict the things I could do, such as going to bars and clubs as I wouldn't do those things alone.

When I went to NYC (with a friend), we split up on several days and I enjoyed going around on my own, doing what I wanted to do, walking in Central Park, going round China town etc. In the day time it's nice to go by your own schedule.
