I have a 100MB of webspace with an ISP.

I've used up 35mb so far according to the management thing.

Anyway I want to upload a PHP / MySQL application called EGroupware which is like an online calender, forum, etc.

Anyway it comes zipped so I unzip it and click onproperties to see how big it is.

And I get two very different values.

1) says 20mb

2) It says space taken on the disk over 100mb

Now I know this is cos the application is made up of zillions of tiny, tiny files but cos the way windows works each little file on my FAT32 system I think is taking up 32kb of space.

My ISP I'm sure is using Linux server so how do I work out how much of my 100 MB of space will be used up??

20mb / 100mb or somehwere inbetween??

BTW I copied the folder to an NTFS partition and it takes up 41mb of space ... so anyone kow how Linux's filing system compares??

It depends on which file system it's using.
ext2 and ext3 seem to be the most popular.

I don't know too much about it, though...maybe these links'll help.
