View Full Version : London's calling...

We're three friends who're planning to buy a cheap airline ticket to London for a 4th friend as a birthday present, and then all go together.
Now, we're searching for a chap hotel/hostel as well. Preferably as close to central London as possible, and which isn't infested with cockroaches and other delicatesses.

Anyone knows how much the tube costs? Is it day-passes or week-passes, or how is the paying system of that?

And any suggestions to what four 17/18 year olds could get up to in the matter of 5-7 days are more than welcome :)

Check out the London Tourist Board website (http://www.londontouristboard.co.uk/) for loads of info on what's on, where to stay etc. Youth hostels are generally a cheaper option when staying in cities. Travelcrads are roughly £4-5 a day and you can also get a weekend one for two days (check Myke's link above for prices).
Have fun!

At the moment it pretty much depends on cheap flight tickets. When that's taken care of, we will plan further.

Thanks for the links :)

How is it easiest to get from Stanstead to Kings Cross?

It's easiest from Liverpool Street.

45 minutes on the Stansted Express (http://www.stanstedexpress.co.uk)

It depends on the carrier but its not always cheaper to come into stansted. A lot of airlines put a little more on the flight if you come to Heathrow, but you can get the tube from there and it doesnt cost the 15 plus quid that the Stansted Express costs each way!

Cheapest ticket was with easyjet, who only fly to Stanstead and Newcastle from Copenhagen, or something like that.

So the option isn't whether to go from Heathrow or Stanstead. But rather the cheapest way to get from Stanstead to Kings Cross.

Btw, thanks Myke :)
