If Romania has any laws concerning age of concern, and if this marriage has broken them, then it is illegal and people should be prosecuted.

"Traditions" are worthless in cases like this. Just because something has been done for generations doesn't make it right. The law of the land MUST ALWAYS prevail over "traditions".

sex abuse, how can they turn a blind eye when it's been made so public. Forced marriage is bad enough, but at 12???
Surely they can't be allowed to join the EU if they want to continue doing this.

Agrees with Al.........

It is easy to hide behind traditions but traditions die, and ones that are wrong deserve to die.......

Romania should be prohibited from joining the EU if they allow this sort of thing to happen, and the girls fatehr and the 15-year-old boy should be jailed for a very very long time for what they did.

On a racial note though- when the Romany KING does this to his own daughter, and literally no-one complains, how exactly can you argue with racists who say that theyre a dirty race of people?

The Romany representative in Parliament disagreed with it. Its not racial, it is cultural and clearly not applicable to all Romany people.....

This used to happen everywhere (Romeo and Juliet?) They just have to catch up..........

tbh david, i get the feeling that the boy didn't have very much say in this either - they were promised to each other when she was - 7(?) - so he wasn't much more than a child either.

Fair enough. His parents should then.

It would be different if it WAS a case of ALLOWING them to marry, but its nothing of the sort. Its FORCING children to marry against their will. The girl had to be MADE to consumate the marriage.
