Help!

Can anyone who is more computer-minded than me explain why my laptop comes up with a message about remote procedure call terminating unexpectedly when im on the internet, and then proceeds to shut down the laptop and restart it?cos its sending me crazy. It's not a virus, and it's not the phone extension. It's also not because someone is trying to phone the house, cos no-one phones me at 11pm!! PLease can someone help me before i go crazy!

sounds like u've got the blaster virus. download and install a virus checker and get rid of it


edit - just read it again, erm if its not a virus then i dunno

theres a removal tool for the blaster worm here (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FixBlast.exe) anyway

I'm assuming you have XP. If so it sounds to me like you have the blaster/nachi virus. Symptom of the virus is shutting down the RPC on XP operating systems. Do as Ron says. Get the fix and apply.

THanx for the help. It was the blaster virus thingy, but its now been removed. I also needed to do the firewall thingy too.
