Why's it funny that Anne Widdecombe is a virgin? Doesn't this show how depressing life is? How do you have to be lucky (and beautiful) to have an enjoyable life? Which makes life seem depressingly empty?

You're entitled to your own opinions. I am by no means having a go at you. I just want to debate the matter.

Isn't she Catholic? Maybe she is celibate (OK, yes not all Catholics are celibate). Perhaps if she is celibate she is happy being so.

besides.. just coz you're ugly doesnt mean you can't get laid. you only have to look at the ugly kids they've produced to know that :p

I'm sure there are plenty of ugly people who have had sex, and plenty of gorgeous people who have decided to save themselves for whatever reason.

Just because Ann Widdecombe is (apparently?!) a virgin, that doesn't mean there's no hope for you if you don't look like a supermodel!

I think part of it is that she is not popular because of her political standing. This is possibly what really invites hostility. I, for one, dislike the Tories. I think if she held a more popular political standing people would not make fun of her for being a virgin. At least not quite so much. But maybe I'm wrong?

Shes a Catholic and she believes that sex before marriage is wrong. Shes never got married, so shes never had sex.

I think its refreshing that shes prepared to live her life as she says she thinks otehrs should- I dislike her political opinions but I respect her honesty.

Most people only mock her because sex is seen as all-important, which is why you have 14 year old girls queuing up at the clap clinic because they got pissed and had sex with five different guys. People mock her because its the norm nowadays for girls (and boys) to be buried in y-shaped coffins.
