hello guys,
i haven't posted on here in ages but i remembered that people are helpful here. i know this sounds weird but due to family stuff, i now have a younger brother that i have to bring up and i don't know enough about boys bits especially foreskins and hygiene.
If you don't clean under your foreskin, how long does it take for any odour to build up and how long days it take for smegma to appear? a day? a week? if u showered in the morning would it be there by evening? if u showered in the morning but played a lot of football that day, would u have smegma then? sorry that this sounds so personal but i don't know who else to ask without being embarressed. x Bunty x

Have a read of our factsheet about foreskins (http://www.thesite.org/magazine/specials_shame/male_shame/foreskins.html) which will help you out alot. I'd have a browse generally around TheSite, too - there is lots of useful; info that will help you out in all sorts of different situations with your brother.
Our helplines page (http://www.thesite.org/info/helplines/) will also offer some useful contacts if you need any general help with money/housing/parenting etc.

a thorough wash once a day is enough to get rid of any odour/bacteria. if you don't wash 2-3 days then smegma will start to appear. it also depends how well you "shake" after a pee to get rid of the "drips". i usually have a quick rinse after going to toilet.

hmm i heard something before, not sure if its true but if you occassionally wash with homemade saline solution (VERY salty water) it helps kills the bacteria and keeps the odour away a little bit longer
hmm still no excuse for not washing though

Not something I've ever had to deal with.
I was circumsied a long time ago. Sounds like I've got it easy :)

Don't you just retract the foreskin in the shower?
And you shower everyday....so that's clean enough isn't it?

I suppose she just needs more info so as to satisfy her mind on the male human body. A lone father parenting a daughter may ask what seems to be basic questions too ... but there's no harm in having the basic information at hand.

Us foreskin owners get a cheesy bell, but we also get better stimulation down there too. Fair swap I say :p
