I have to say that generally, diets are a pretty bad idea. They condition your mind to thinking that you are being good for depriving yourself, so in the long term it won't work as we can't go without nice things forever. I know it's old-fashioned advice, but the best diet is a long-term lifestyle shift towards healthy eating, with a little bit of what you like thrown in at the times when you most need/want it. Also, it's almost impossible to shift the pounds without exercising - and this will give you more energy and make you feel happier, too.

the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to change the way you eat. you have to eat healthily all the time, not just until you reach your goal weight, but forever. this doesn't mean starving yourself, it means eating loads of fresh fruit and veggies, eating lean meat and cutting out the fatty things. maybe eating sorbet instead of ice cream, and only having a chocolate bar once a week.

you also need to exercise. but pick something you like doing, so you're more motivated to keep with it. you don't need to go to the gym. you could take up dancing, or horseriding, or cycling.

eat less food, excercise more.

i'd write a book about it but people would think i was taking the piss 'cos it IS that easy.

and i'm talking PROPER excercise, if you're not out of breath it's not good enough, you need to be physically knackered after excercise to get the benefit.
