Right hmm the other day i noticed that some kinda clear liquid was coming out of my right breast. Its not running out like a stream or anything but it was noticable. At the time that was it. Then i noticed a lump under one side of my nipple, its not what id call a normal lump, more like its swollen. My whole tit is aching and i cant lie on it, or jump around or anything. Oh and its been constantly leaking this crap for the last 2 days :(

Anyway thats enough to make me worried, so i went to the doctors and had to see someone other than my normal doctor, and she just took a look and said she'd give me some antibiotics. Now im no medical expert but im now getting even more worried cos im convinced she should have given me a more thorough check than that.

I've smoked heavily for the last 4/5 years, so im sure that although its rare its not impossible for it to be something a lot more serious. Ive booked another appointment with my normal doctor for the end of next week. Is that leaving it too long? I dont wanna die or anything this week.

This is all way too scary for my liking!

Go and get a second opinion from another doctor.

Best be safe than sorry

I have a feeling it might have been caused by my bra. There is raised stitching that ends up running right across my nipple and it makes it itch like fuck. Im starting to think i scratched it and its got dirt in it or something

I dont bloody know! It could be anything :(

You have done the right thing getting a 2nd opinion. Im sure everything will be fine, you probably have just an infection. Positive thoughts = a positive mind and this can be the basis for good health.

Hi lacy, if it was just liquid, id say it might be something to do with your recent pregnancy thing. You can start to get small amounts of milk very very early on, and its either clear or yellowish at first. I dont know if thats what it is because if youve also got pain, then it might be a cyst or something. Id go back to your doctor if your not convinced bywhat they say. Ask for a more thorough check.

Phone the N.H.S helpline and you will be asked questions they will tell you wether they think it is serious or wether you can leave it till you see the doc again.

I havent got a clue what it can be, but dont sit and worry phone these people, thats what they get paid for to give advise.

My friend had a lump in her breast which turned out just to be a cyst of some kind, and she was just given antibiotics as far as I know. So the doctor you saw probably knew what she was doing. But she should have explained more fully what she thought it was, and why she was prescribing you the drugs. I hate it when doctors just give you a prescription and send you away - personally, I'd like to be told what the medicine's going to be doing to me when I take it! If you didn't mention the pregnancy when you went there the first time then make sure the doctor knows about it when you go back. There's nothing wrong with going back a second time, especially to see your regular doctor, but you should have some confidence in the first doctor too.

If its a cyst the antibiotics will get rid of it. If it hasn't gone after you have completed the course then its possible its something else. If you are unsure about anything the doctor said, go back.
