Overrated - Nirvana

Underrated - Gotta agree with Tool, The Rasmus, and The Pillows :p

I know there's shitloads more, but I can't think of them just now :|

What is overrated? I guess if someone thinks a band is really great, and millions of other people worldwide agree with them, then that's the way it is, in my opinion.

Not a band, but Common is underrated, in the way that no one seems to know who he is, apart from the MTV awards panel.

the ramones- so underrated,as are the buzzcocks, when people think punk, they either think sex pistols or the clash, failing to notice two of the best punk bands in my opinion.

I think not, if anything I would deem them underrated!

I think this is a really stupid topic as most people would never say their favourite bands are overrated and just use it as an opportunity to belittle other people's tastes.

Really? All the press that I've read about them say bad things, in the UK anyway, setting them up as nothing more than the left overs of Rage and the garden.

(well they are my fave group ATM, but I see them as underdogs to the music media)

hardly agree with any of them, the darkness are great, although not one of my favourite's i will admit, and well deserve all the praise they're getting at the mo.
dido will always be one of my favourite female musicians, she's one of the best role models for young singers, if not only on musical ability, she got into guildhall school of music at like age 6, a feat that any musician would love to accomplish or lay claim to.

Overrated- Metallica. I don't get it. I heard a song of theirs on Kerrang! earlier, and it sounded like bloody nu-metal to me ( though I must point out that I nothing about metal and the like). Hearing their fans saying they are one of the best metal bands of all time, puts me off the music completely. Metal must be shit if Metallica is the best the genre has to offer.....in my opinion that is.

don't you think that your view is just slightly...off centre? Metallica have been the flagship for metal for the last 20 years. they've evolved, so judging them, let alone all metal by one track seems a bit...small minded.

what exactly do you think "nu-metal" sounds like? and while we're at it, what do you think "metal" sounds like?

Metallica's new album sounds absolutely nothing like the stuff of old. Check out the song Master Of Puppets for the absolute best metal song ever.

hmm many metallica fans are split over whther the new stuff is anygood,some love it some dont

Over-rated: Coldplay, Dido, Avril Lavigne, Girls Aloud, Nirvana. John Lennon. (I'm sorry, but that's just my opinion!) BRITNEY SPEARS. ARGH. Madonna.... yes, she's a fashion Icon, but really isn't the most spectacular singer. Kelly Osbourne

Under-rated: HIM Christina Aguilera (Right, yes, she dresses like a hooker, but her voice is phenomenal. No one I know looks past her image to actually listen to her amazing voice.)
