He means he went up to his dad having misheard news reports and told his dad that Bush was having a sing-song with ABBA when in reality he's having a meeting with the Palestinian PM Abbas.

There was a group in the 70's or 80's from Sweden called ABBA. I got it confused with Abbas the new prime minister of palestine.
