I got £10-15 a day, working 9am til 4pm, without a real lunch break (more of a sandwich at my desk, mouthfuls between phone calls, kinda thing) in an estate agents when I was 16-18. I started on £10 a day and after about a year they put it up to £15. I left a few weeks after my 18th birthday because they wouldn't put my wages up (amongst other reasons).

I really was doing it more for the experience than the money (at the beginning at least!), and without that experience, I wouldn't have got my new job, so maybe it was worth it...

I got £4 an hour for my first job, so I usually ended up with around £20 a shift and then i worked 3-4 shifts a week as a silver service waitress (that couldnt silver serve).

But when i had to work xmas day I got double time but it was the only time I did

And then if we got finished early at say 4 minutes to the hour, we would only get paid up to 4 minutes to hour..

I kinda wish I'd kept that job, even if the kitchen staff couldnt really form sentences without using "fuck" 54 times and the duty manager was a perv and walked around groping staff

I got about £3.40 at Wax Lyrical, then at Marks and Pencer I got about £3.90, which went up once I turned 18. When I worked at the theatre I got £4.20 despite it being work for a local authority, whose staff are legally not allowed to pay less than £5 an hour to their employees. Grrr

Now I get £5.70 and I work in a GPs surgery, but I only work 11.5 hours a week. Beats working more hours for less pay, works out the same at the end of the month! :)

I just started my first job this week :hyper:

I'm contracted to do 17 hours a week, at £3.70 an hour, and time and a half on Sundays. That works out at £72.15 a week.

And I get a pay rise after 13 weeks, when I'm fully trained :)

Edited to say: That averages at about £4.24 an hour.

My first job - which was through a training programme, was £4,500 per year.

I now earn around £9 per hour on a 35 hour week.

My first job was in a little mini-market type shop where I got £3.20 an hour and worked around 12 hours a week.

But I've quit that now and I'm lining up a job in Iceland where it's £4.20 an hour so I'm a lot happier because I'm still young and niave about wages :D
