What are your thoughts?

Personally... I love "classic" goth..
But! I can't stand women who insist on wearing black lipstick! It's sooooo out of fashion!!!!!!

I used to love the gothic look - I didn't own anything which wasn't black. But it started to get a bit depressing so I decided I needed a bit of colour. I look at photos of myself back then and I never realised quite how much eyeliner I was wearing - I looked like I'd been punched in the face!

I love gothic fashion, I still wear some gothic stuff but more toned down or more adapted to my own individual style. It's got a place in fashion, definitely, but I sometimes look at people just going to school or walking around the town in full gothic gear and I think yeah, it looks cool, but how long did you have to spend on your appearance this morning? I couldn't be bothered with that every day.

I'll only go really gothic now if I'm going to a gig or something. My boyfriend wishes I did it more often, though - I think he finds it sexy.

Are we talking dark coloured velvet and lace here?

The classic look i think can look good, even stunning, on people who know how to get it right.

The look favoured by the 13 year olds however is kinda dull. Your right the black lipstick thing just looks daft.

"Goth" is hardly about being IN fashion is it? Otherwise you'd be buying your stuff down New Look wouldn't you.
I get the feeling other goths would be ashamed of you.

Yes "Goth" is a style, therefore a fashion.

The sooner goths stop kidding themselves its individual the better.

That doesn't mean it's in fashion tho

I think a little bit of darkness round they eyes is very appealing.

But I think they alltend to go a bit OTT and look stupid, to be honest. But it's the attitude of these people that annoys me the most.

But that's not the issue

It's all relative. There are far more "trendies" than "goths" if we're going to start with the lables.

Goth hasn't actually been in fashion properly since some time in the 80s. It's had it's minor comebacks but nothing to speak of really.

Exactly. Goth is fine and can be really attractive on some people. It's a different style, but it's not individual. People who dress gothic may look different to the 'trendies' you see walking around the high street every day, but go somewhere like Camden or to a goth club and they all look the same.

Some people think being a goth is more about your attitude and the music you listen to, rather than a style. :)

Goths not about attitude, its just about being depressed and listening to a certain kind of music. its punk thats about attitude.

In my opinion it's the same kind of thing as skaters, punks, hippies... a lot of people put themselves in a category and call that category individual - but really it's just part of a huge group.

About the actual fashion, clothes make-up etc... I think it can look gorgeous. As long as the make-up isn't too black and corpse-like that is. The corsets, dresses, abundant lace etc, are beautiful. Not an 'everyday' look though!

WHO SAID GOTH WAS INDIVIDUAL?!
It's a cult... and excuse me, but Goth has been and is atm in fashion... Just walk into any Tammy (yes I know its for kids) and the first thing u see is teenage Goth!

Personally, I don't class myself as a teenage Goth.. I just like corsets... and black... and sisters of mercy... Damn.. kinda shot myself in the foot there.. lol

What does that tell you then? It's a fashion for kids?

I love the gothic look and I often wear dark colours and corsetry etc. I don't wear dark eye makeup but I wear dark red lipstick shades because it looks ok with my skin tone.

Goth was very in fashion around Winter 2001, but it was quite a toned-down gothic style, with lots of lace and sparkly bits everywhere.

It's still popular but it's not 'in fashion' as such.
