Howard Rheingold, author of Smart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution, said cell-phone use already has allowed protesters to better organize themselves. However, once next-generation 3G videophones become ubiquitous, protesters will be able to submit video instantly to blogs and provide an alternative viewpoint to challenge mainstream coverage.
A "challenge to mainstream coverage" sounds like a good thing.

Since the first "anti-war" demonstration was ignored I've pretty much given up on large protests to do anything. how can over 1 million people united in belief be ignored?
Did you know that the traffic monitoring CCTV camera's all around london were turned off the day of the demo, presumably to stop hundreds of people logging onto the web and seeing just how many people walked the streets that day.
I think the same happened on the day of the countryside allience march.
Cell phones and video messaging wont do any-thing if the nations leaders ignore and surpress the protesters.
