Parents think i'm a dealer.

I smoke dope fairly regularly (£10 bag every two weeks or so...) and when I buy it I also buy some for my friends (usually about two or three which means i buy quite alot sometimes...).

Anyway, my parent don't mind me having the occasional joint but my mu7m recently overheard me talking to my brother about buying £50 worth (£20 for me £20 for someone else and £10 for another person..). Tonight she found the scales in my room (i was seperating mine and Bxs gear out last friday) and she thinks im a big-ass dealer.
1)Am I a big-ass dealer?
2)How do I convince her im not?

P.S I'm swearing off it for the exams

If your selling it to your mates, you are effectively dealing. Not in the way your mum probably thinks though.

Of course you're dealing! You're selling it on to other people. I know you don't feel like you are because it's only for friends etc., but that's how it all starts.

Try to reassure your mum that it was only the first time, and that it really was only for a friend - but in future I'd stick to buying the stuff just for yourself if I were you; can't your friends buy their own? It's safer for you that way. Also, tell your mum you're off it for the exam period and I'm sure it'll earn you brownie points.

I know peple who smoke dope far more excessively than that. I would say that's a modest amount.

As far as i can see you aren't a dealer as you aren't making money from selling the stuff to your mates.
Just tell her the truth. You smoke it now and then and you buy in bulk as you get your mates it (with their money) when you buy some.

Your mum and dad seem pretty relaxed about it in the first place so i wouldn't worry too much.

Unfortunately, if it passes from your hands into your mates' hands, you're dealing in the eyes of the law. I don't think there even has to be money involved. Tell your mum that you're not a 'big ass' dealer, i.e you only supply it to your friends. But I can see why she's worried, I guess.

Another point to consider is what if for some reason the police raided your house and found scales n stuff?

The law on under this weight or that is very lax, its really not that specific as far as I know.

Yes under an 1/8th they will most likely just give you a caution, but that doesnt always happen. They could take you to court and formaly charge you that way, even for just possesion.

Yes as others have said, it makes no difference who you are giving it too, I'm preaty sure that even passing a joint around could be classed as dealing.

No, your not a "big-ass dealer" but that doesnt mean you cant get it some preaty nasty trouble. It being weed doesnt make it alright, it just makes it slightly less serious than other things.

In the law, if I remember rightly, its classed as dealing. Even if you save someone two's on a joint you are classed as supplying the drug. Stupid i know.
In my eyes you are not a 'dealer', you are just getting dope for friends who maybe can't get it themselves.
With what you said, you don't smoke that much anyway and it sounds like you'll never have more than say 1/2 ounce on you and if the police for whatever reason did get involved, you can always get away with saying its for personal use when theres only a little amount like that.
I've been through all the same shit with my parents. All you have to do is be totally honest with them. Tell them that you do get it and pass it on to your mates, tell them you make no money, tell them your mates don't know who to get it off etc. The parents idea of a 'dealer' is bad, mine anyway didn't know shit. Explain that most people who get drugs don't get it from 'dealers' but from mates who know people. I know I get all my drugs of people i'm really good mates with and I wouldn't class them as dealers (well, not all of them) :p

Cheers guys... She basically told me not to ever sell it to anyone... I think i'll be a little bit more careful in future and never buy more than a 1/4... I told her about the swearing off it for exams and she was a little bit pacified... but she never wants to see any dope near me again and I can't smoke it in my room anymore... oh well, not as bad as it could have been... once aain, cheers guys:)

Thats not hugely helpful advice, there are quite a lot of people who smoke and enjoy the experiance.

I do think its good that your swearing off it for your exams though, it doesnt help greatly with the concentration.
