Um, look up pragmatics, speech act theory, locutions and illocutions, maybe a bit on socio-linguistics as well. These keywords should bring up some stuff that'll help you :)

Hrm... It's a good two years since I did AS... Still, for my A2 coursework I did Women's Speech and looked up work by Robin Lakoff. Doubt it's any help.

Oh dear I did this for As or was it A2??? anyway i'm afraid i'm not going to be any help at all cos I can't remember any of the stuff we did in class. Anyway have you tried AS Guru they may have what you need if not go to one of their message boards and ask for help.
