I've been away from the UK for nearly 2 months now, and was wondering what I'm missing out on music-wise. When I left it was mostly rubbishy pop idol stuff, what are the charts looking like now? What CDs should I definitely buy when I get home?

As in gone back to Thrashy stuff?
Well....yesss...but slowing it down a bit does wonders for heavyness.
I heard a 30 second clip of a song called Dead Kennedy Rolls.
That sounded good. Oh yes.

i prefer their heavy stuff to their thrash stuff as well, but they did say that they'd go back to their roots. if they do go old school, i'd rather it be proper old school, rather than some half arsed attempt to appease both worlds :p

it's not gonna be may...it'll be June for the new album...so says the website.
There's also a track listing there...minus Dead Kennedy Rolls. :-|
Maybe the song just has a different name.
Well...instead, to appease both worlds, have some thrash and some goddamn bastard motherfucking dirty heavy stuff on there too. :p :D

Ikara Colt
The White Stripes
Interpol
Coldplay
Queens Of The Stone Age
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Tom McRae
Of that lot, Ikara Colt, Coldplay and Tom McRae are British, the rest are American.
Im worried about the New Metallica album because...
1. i love them
2. im not into the super heavy stuff
3. they are touring with Linkin Park *coughs* crap *cough* << no offense to any LP fans.
4. they might end up sounding like all these "Nu-Metal" bands, some of which are extremley rubbish, ie: just screaming, whining, crap guiotars etc...
But i look forward to the album cause....
1. I get to see them this summer WOOOOOOOOOOO!
2. Might be absolutley amazing!
3. hopefully will be back to good old rockin Metallica (minus jason newstead :( )
Anyways, answering the original question ... There aint much good music out in the UK the now, nor has there been for ages!

meh, Newsted was a cunt anyway
Seek and Destroy, Nothing Else Matters, Sad But True, I Disappear and Master Of Puppets are my favorite Metallica songs so hopefully a bit of all of them and it'd be cool :)
i think i prefer the pre-black album stuff to the stuff after it

Heavy, not too fast, and not too slow.
Yeah.
Of course, you gotta have some double bass-drum stuff, too.
A lot of the heavyness is imparted by Hetfield's voice maturing (helped, of course, by cigars etc) and the mixing.
If they re-recorded kill em all, for instance, It could sound so much different.
Actually, i think they should...not to replace the old one, but itwould be a good comparison to see what it'd be like.
Anyway...new good music in the UK...umm...
I can't think of anything at the mo...
