hey sorry this is pretty boring but i'm bored.


does anyone do pilates or know anyone who does it? it seems to only be people's mums who do it :confused: and i was just wondering what it was like as i'm going to start it and aerobics once each a week with my best friend as we have turned into lazy slobs over the last year.

Pilates is when you do very intesnse work on your muscles ...like Yoga. it's probably the complete opposite to aerobics as its very slow and precise and fantastic for toning up.

Ever heard of callanetics? its like that and involves a lot of breathing, slow movement and relaxation. it can work wonders but you may find it boring.

I wouldn't mind having a go at pilates it is a bit like yoga I think

I've been going to pilates classes this year. Basically you do various excercises which tones your muscles. It's really good for improving your posture but I found a few of the exercises difficult. Having said that, you are given different levels of intensity and you can choose the one you wish to work at first and progress when ready. You also learn to control your breathing.

thanks, i'm doing it to get toned and to improve my posture as it has become awful, so i'm glad to hear it helps.

its holding positions that tense muscles fo short periods of time which strengthen and tone... look at me, the yoga and pilates geek!!! Prefer yoga any day!
