hi people

i was wondering if you could help me out a bit for my english oral exam.

jus answer the followin questions and ill be very thankful

1) do you think there should be an age of consent for sex? YES/NO

2) Do you think the current age should be changed? YES/NO

3) If YES what age do you think would be suitable?
no age, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 18+

Yes.

Yes.

12, if with someone of the same age. 16 if with someone older.

Though as you probably know, noone really pays attention to the age of consent.

How could you ever prove the age of the older person?

12 is certainly too young, as you aren't even a teenager yet!

Yeah - but 12 year olds are doing it anyway. They're as well doing it legally, and safely, instead of outside, unprotected etc.

They wouldn't know why they were doing it, just that they were doing it.

Not only that, the risk of getting cervical cancer is greatly increased with a lot of sexual activity at a much younger age.

You're missing the point. It doesn't matter whether or not it's legal - they're going to do it anyway. But if it's legal, there's more chance of them doing it safely. That is of course, if they get sex ed.

It works in the Netherlands. There are much less teen pregnancies in Holland than in Britain, and the age of consent in Amsterdam is 12. The Netherlands have better sex education - there's actually a curriculum, rather than the teachers just making it up as they go along.

yes - it should be changed to 15, BUT only with another person(s) under 18, and then after 16,17 or 18 it can be with anyone, because people who want to do it will do it no matter what but the fact its illegal puts many couples off having sex at an early age which i think is a good thing becuase they should concentrate on all the emotional stuff!
