Young Clubbers

Ive always dreamed of going clubbing but one thing that has always slipped by the clubbing scene is the opening (or even inclusion) of clubs for people under 18 or perhaps have one night a week/month for this.

Would I be correct in speculating that club owners are unwilling to do this as most of their revenue is created from selling alcoholic beverages, which of course by law cannot be sold to under 18's?

Does anyone know of any clubs that are like this and what are they like?

Remember, its not all about getting sloshed :rolleyes:

There are under 18 nights at a few clubs in Birmingham. But I went to proper clubs from whenb I was 14. You are right about the alcohol, if a drink is £3/£4, and most people will have at least a few, that is where the money comes from. Plus they can open later. But there is something to be said for having nightclubs open at 7-10 for under 18's, then over 18's after.

Theres quite alot of under 18's clubs in Plymouth. I used to go to one club in particular when I was 14/15. Looking back I dont know how I enjoyed it, it started at 6:30 till 10 so it was daylight and Im there clubbing. But I guess some people like that kinda thing. Its still open now as far as i know and its quite popular, but I havnt been there for years I go over 18s now. I guess clubs prefer the over 18's scene as thats where the money comes from selling all the alcohol, but its not unheard of around here to have an under 18's club.

I know that the Brixton Academy in london is for 15+, but they don't have many clubbing nights there any more.

My first time raving was at an over 14 event at the Sanctuary in Milton Keyneys, it was called Evoloution and still remains one of my favourite memories from all the events I've been to!

I'm not a big fan of under-18s nights, mainly for the music... all they seem to play is cheesy house and trance tunes (Shooting Star, Be Cool, Lasgo, Ian van Dahl etc), and sometimes even pop music, but then again I'm quite fussy with music so it should be fine for you.

There used to be an under 18's night every Friday at one of the clubs in Blackburn, which shut in time for it to re-open for over 18's. Finished though coz they had far more probs with under 18's than over 18's. Used to be fights the lot. police would be called out 5-6 times a night to them. only know coz my bro used to work there. never went myself. couldn't see the attraction, why not go out where alcohol's involved from the start.:D

That's not true..it depends what club you go to and where you live. Around here they generally check most people, my brothers 23 and looks at least 20 yet he always get I.d.'d. If you're a girl it's easier to get away with it though. When I've been to big towns like Liverpool, Bristol etc I have never had a problem getting in and I've been 15/16 at the time. It's just round here theres only a few clubs and lots of people wanting to go in so they can afford to turn people away.

Anyway back to the original post, I know one club in Maidstone(IKON) holds under 18 nights in the holidays and at half-terms. I went to a couple when I was about 14 and they were terrible. It was £8 to get in, packed full of sweaty kids smoking and snogging everyone they could get their hands on and sleazy disgusting blokes grabbing your arse. They'd run out of soft drinks too so you had to drink water, luckily we'd smuggled in a couple of bottles of vodka though... I guess it was just a big disco really. But then again when you go to over 18's clubs nothings changed.. :p

Well I'm 15 and I know a few places where they do under 18s stuff.......

When you're about 11/12 you go to the school discos! I think they are 7-9pm!

Then at about 13 there's SNAP Disco's...they're for 11-16 and they're all over the country... but once u get to about age 14 they're complete rubbish - rather stay at home kinda thing. These are from 7-11pm.

If you're 14-16 u can go to Capital VIP (www.capitalvip.com) in London...they're good although they're packed full (98%) of posh, private school kids who do three things...Smoke (making it so obvious they just wanna look cool), Snog and, the most annoying, stare. However, if you ignore all that they're pretty good. They throw free CDs and stuff out as well and are from 8pm to 2am

The other good once I know, and go to the most now (being 15) is UKClubCulture events... www.ukclubculture.com where they hold under 18s nights at modern, fashionable clubs like 'Liguid', 'Envy' and 'Ikon'. These are 7pm to 11pm....a bit early but oh well :) You mainly get age 15-16 aged people there.

So thats my mini guide! Not all under 18s clubs are rubbish...it depends where u live and how gd u look around for these places :)

i first went to an over 18's when i just turned 15...some places are more lenient than others but if there's a strict policy there's no way you're getting in...drinking or not drinking...

They do make the biggest profit on drinks... Appart from that you've got the rest of your life to waste clubbing after your 18th birthday. It's really not that exciting and this is coming from an ex club DJ.

you should have said, destiny watford unders 18s is about 15 times a year always on sunday night usally school holidays, is open for about 8-12 but sets you back about £8

huge event though 1,000 of people. Average age i would say is about 14 for girls. And about 15-16 for for boys as there are loads of sad older boys that are 17 and 18

having worked in quite a big hotel for 2 years before i turned 18, it took me about 2 months to completely get bored with drinking and going out into town.

go out and socialise instead, go somewhere really fun with your best mates. Dont get trapped in some money trap hellholl like IKON/DIVA with pissheads and paedophiles (horrible phrase i know but that is the best tongue-in-cheek phrase for commercial club crowds ive ever heard.)

I went to an 14-18's night club in stoke for my 14th birthday! At the time, I thought it was cool but now, I could never go clubbing without drinking lol. It was good at the time though! :)

That's where drugs come in!

The main nightclub in town, every now and again hold nights for 12 - 17 year olds and they normally finish bout 10.30, then it opens for the older people, they only hold nights like that every now and again, like there's onle coming up because year 11's have left school, i think it might be to reduce on the amount of people going up there later, underage to celebrate.

There is an under 18s night once a month in colchester.
and then there is 2 clubs in chelmsford which do it i think as well.
There were quite a few when i was underage, however when i was 16/17 i started going to normal clubs anyway lol
Even tho i did it, i hate going into clubs where its just full of people who are clearly underage and u just wanna go up to the bouncers n say get them out!!! :mad:
