Yay for cheesy happycore... my favourites over the years of raving at places such as Hysteria, Slammin Vinyl, Compulsion and United Dance have included:
Charlie Lownoise & Mental Theo - Wonderful Dayz
Charlie Lownoise & Mental Theo - Hardcore Feelings
Paul Elstak - Raindow In The Sky
Dr Who - Love of my life
Hixxy & Sharkey - Toytown
DJ Fade & Melody - Is This Love
Highlander - Hold Me Now
Hixxy & Bananaman - Together Forever
Triple J - Follow The Sun
Stompy - Follow Me
DJ Demo - Muzik
Brisk & Trixxy - Eye Opener
Quest - Images Of You
... and I didn't even mention any Bang! hits (ie. Cloudy Daze/Shooting Star/Sail Away/Break Of Dawn) which yes I do love but everyone mentions those so I wanted to be different :p
... P-A-R-T-Y? Because I gotta gotta.. gotta!
... So I went into the corner with my rizla and my ganja...
... Santa Maria.. ahhh ahhh.. Santa Maria...
... Set you freeeeeeeeeeeee!
... Can you feel, the power of looooooove!
... Hardcore Vibes..
... Make em break the laaaaaaaw, gonna make em break the laaaw!
The memories... *grins* :p

Charlie Lownoise & Mental Theo - Hardcore Feelings
Does that start...
"Come give me your hardcore feelings"
"with you raving meanings...." ???
(I havn't heard that in years :D)
I used to be into hardcore in a big way, my first rave was Evoloution when I was 14 (over 14's event ;)) and then went on to do Tazmania, Dreamscape, Fusion, Adrenalin, Skelter and Raindance, all a number of times usually acomanied by my whistle and gloves. :D
Justins named some my own faves so I'm not going to bother repeating them, and unlike Justin who used to be a DJ I'm not so good at naming the artists.
Anything by Paul Elstak (Rainbow in the Sky, Luv U More, Alone...)
Have you ever been mellow (MOKUM) - Party Animals
Groove Control - Midas (Vinylgroover)
Rave is a mystery - Vibes?
Discoland - Tinytots (the original)
Technowonderland - Vibes
In complete Darkness - The Fat Controller
Emerald - ?
6 days - Jimmy J & Cru LT
Doesn't have to be like that - IKON
Blue Sky Day - ?
All U Bastards - ?
Show me the way ?
Wonderful World - ?
Shining Down - Force&Styles
Children of the Night - Nakatomi (Vengaboys believe it or not  )
Rush Hour - ?
I could go on and on, I still go to a lot of events such as Slammin for the D&B but often find myself back in the hardcore arena when an older set is being played. Althoug the Hardcore scene is thriving once again, Happy Hardcore is pretty much dead, the new sound is either much more trance based, freeform or slowed down gabber! :D
I'll always enjoy all sorts of hardcore!

Not really into it anymore. However, the atmosphere at the Dreamscape's / Helter Skelter's will never be beaten in this country!!
Was anyone at the Helter Skelter in Brackley, Northamptonshire? When, in the old school tent, Ratpack made a comeback? And the sound system failed? And everyone in there started chanting "turn it up! Turn it up!" ? Only for it to come back on with.......
WE GOT LOT'S Of SPACES JUMP AROUND! UP, UP, UP, HEY! RATPACK WILL GET YOU RUSHING!!!
My god! I am almost dancing now! Fuck it,i hope the hardcore never dies!!

"We're flying high"
"We're flying high"
"We're flying right up to the sky..."

The happy hardcore mix was done by Jimmy J, Nena did thew original non-happycore version which made it into the Holland charts (and possibly British)

HoG reminds me of the old USH rip take we used to sing:
"You have a heart of brass, the biggest tits and the sweetest ass that I have ever seen..."
Flying High - UFO & Stu J
Hell yeah, I'm desperatly trying to think of the words straight after, something like
"with a .... on the ground.. and love will take us round and round.. we fly so high.. we're flying right up to the sky"

Raindance at the Drome, dam that was good, the cloak room was run by incompitant hippies but the place itself had a fantastic back ally feel to it.
Future Dance at the Castlefield Studios was top too.
World Dance at Bagleys was musicaly sound but the security were way too moody and the pills crap.

my mate intrduced me to hardcore in high school. i taped a load off her and i loved it but i lost touch with her afterwards so i haven't really heard much hardcore for a while.

Happy hardcore is more associated with '94-'98, and is more based around tunes like 'Shooting Star', 'Heart of Gold' and 'Discoland'. Quite cheesy, uplifting lyrics, synthy and relatively low BPM's. Hardcore is associated with more modern hardcore, '01-'05 be it bouncy, trancecore or whatever. There was a gap from '99-'01-ish where the scene nosedived and only a few producers stayed within the scene, but all in all happy hardcore and hardcore are two different names for the same thing, and definitions are different for everyone.
Though if you ask a Dutch/German person about UK Hardcore they'd be talking about Deathchant (more breakcore/gabber) and 'happy hardcore' would be everything hardcore that isn't gabber/speedcore.

If ne1's got sum tips, i know sweet FA bout downloadin n mp3's n all this modern tech, what i need is sumwhere i can buy/order cd's/tape with happy hardcore on, no vinyl, i need the original and best!
Try www.imorecords.com - despite being mainly a vinyl shop, they also stock CD's, Tapepacks, and now you can buy MP3's from there if you desire to. www.juno.co.uk also sell hardcore CD's, among tonnes of other sites.
Do any of you listen to much of the "newer" hardcore sound, i.e. the slightly trance-fused hardcore that's on offer? The latest Bonkers (number 14) is out soon and looks failry decent - maybe worth a listen to for some people. Hardcore's seemed to have moved away from the "cheesiness" that was heavily associated with it in the past and now it's getting much bigger again - much like it was in '97 - John Peel (RIP) even had Hixxy DJ on his show last year! There's CD's coming out in the charts left right and centre and there's even commercial remixes of hardcore tunes of the past! The old saying "hardcore will never die" is sooo true.
Andy

It's out already mate, been out for about a week and a bit.
Once again Sharkey's mix is the dogs bollocks, absolute quality. And good to see Gammer with tracks on every CD!
Similar topic, but really into the breakbeat side of things at the moment, Luna-C is one DJ/producer with absolutely masses of talent and he doesn't get anywhere near enough recognition. He's definitely up there with Brisk and Sharkey (has to be my favourite DJ, producer and MC ("under no circumstances can you lot stop dancing, show your DJ some fucking respect!" :D), this man is a legend) as one of the best in the scene at the minute, easily.

Like I said in the original post, definitions are pointless as they mean something different to every person. This is my own individual take on it.

I think it is possible to write a history (or even several histories) of the development of this music, but I'd bet most will acknowledge early 90's hardcore.
This is a good book

Hardcore went at least two ways not just into jungle.
We have the happier side of things, then there's gabber and 'hardcore techno' etc
I like it all pretty much. I got into hardcore in the early 90's when I had just started secondary school - my mates brothers used to play a lot of it and
I've enjoyed most of the music that's evolved from it since - although I don't have much intrest in the D&B scene at present.

IMO the good stuff mutated into jungle, the shit stuff mutated into happy hardcore.

It's out already mate, been out for about a week and a bit.
Ahhh right, I shall see about getting it now - cheers :)
I gotta agree with you here on Luna-C - he's pure class! Listening to his sets you never know what track he's going to throw in next for good measure. If you can, you should download his "Supasets" from www.ush.net if they're still available (and you don't already have them) - they are excellent sets. If you can't get them, email/PM me etc... and I'll see about maybe transferring you one of them over MSN or something.

Found a nice little site which explains different types of music for all those who wanted to know
http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html
Not a bad site although to be honest i think there are a few mistakes in there...
