you will get a temporary visa at the airport because you are going for a three week holiday and you arent going out there to work...if you were staying longer than 3 months and planning on working there you would need a full visa but i think you will just get a temporary one when you go through immigration
as for spending money, both times i have been to the states i didnt have to worry about accomodation and 3 meals a day as i was been staying with friends. the first time i went for a week and took $300, $200 of which i splashed out on clothes and the rest was movies, going out, entertainment and the second time i went i stayed for ten days and took $500, $100 of which paid for a flight to Cali while i was there cos we went to Disneyland. my friends aunt worked there so we got in free and stayed at her house but i spent a lot on souvenirs and clothes and things. we went out a lot to clubs and things and went out to dinner too. i think cos its your first time you will want to make the most of the cheapness of clothes, thats what i was like anyway! it really just depends on what you are doing, where you are going, if you want to buy souvenirs, etc
good luck and have a brilliant time!

You're going to Las Vegas? Take about 600 bucks, you'll have a good time there and if you like to gamble, you'll need it.

Howdy.
I lived in Florida for a month in february, and basically America is dirt cheap..my food bill cost me $8 per day on average!!

You don`t need any special visa if you are a tourist,or as they define it "pleasure".
So you fill out a form on the aircraft that trolly dolly gives you.

If your training..like learning to fly, going to college or uni or earning money over thee ,you`ll need an M1,J1 or even a B1 visa.

Oh yeah, watch the US immigration officials....grouchy lot.

If 2000 is $3400-thats a lot of money for 3 weeks...A LOT.

dinner in a restaurant~$15-$25
fast food~$5/meal
movies~$15 w/popcorn & soda
clubs~$10-$30
billiards~$15/2hrs pool and a pitcher of beer
gas~$1.20-1.70/gallon...avg cars here get 25-35mpg
clothes~$30+/outfit
las vegas-will cost you everything you have

That's funny b/c every time I go to Miami I here Europeans from France, Switzerland, and England complain of how expensive it is. The US is by no means dirt cheap. It really depends on where you are and how hard you work at not spending money. If you want to limit your food budget to 8$ a day, I suggest grocery shopping or eating the cheapeast of fast food. Basically like Europe the further you get away from tourism and big city entertainment the cheaper it is. If you go to any hot clubs with decent djs in South Beach for instance, the cost will be 30-60 dollars to get in and if the club is packed you will have to bribe a bouncer. Then when you get in water is 7.00$ and drinks are the same and up. That is the worst case senerio but Vegas isn't cheap. My golden rule is always bring more than you anticipate spending. As a tourist and being in unfamiliar territory its hard to always know the cheapest ways to go about things. At least you got a good exchange rate.

I'm going to Colorado myself in two weeks time but i'll be safe and not sorry so i'll take quite abit of money, never been so knows i'll spend loads

The flights seem awfully cheap... nodoubt i'll hop on a few planes whilst i'm there, i'll only be there for 2 weeks and I think you need at least a month

I find the U.S. (other than big cities like Boston, New York, etc) very reasonable compared with the U.K. There are tons of cheap motels around to stay, food is not expensive, and there's lots of shopping to do! Trainers, jeans, jackets... so cheap it's embarrassing. I filled up an extra suitcase with the stuff we bought.

I don't think you need a month in Colorado. I've been twice. Once we flew into Denver in the winter and went to Breckenridge to ski. Colorado has some of the best skiing in the states, but the fact that its summer and a drought at that ski resorts may not be a top priority. The other time we drove through and visited Ft. Collins and boulder. Ft Collins is a nice town but more like a cool town you would want to live in but not quite as crazy as boulder. Boulder is really cool. Its very liberal and full of wealthy hippies and students. Its not big but has lots going on and tons of freaks. From what I understand because it a small place where everyone wants to live, its quite expensive to rent there. You also have Denver which is a big city but I've never hung out their. Teluride hosts big music festivals and is probably worth checking and red rocks is supposedly about the best music venue in the US. To see who is playing there go to pollstar.com
I myself just bought cheap tickets to London for NOv and it will be my first time.

True, I'm not implying the US is expensive, but the big cities can be and Vegas can be.
