Is GTA 3 for the PC any good? I've been wondering about getting it...would anyone recommend it?

The PS2 version was definitely quality (beaten to Game Of The Year by one vote!) but sometimes it all goes arse over tit in the conversion stage...

Have a gander at:

IGN Review (9.4) (http://pc.ign.com/articles/360/360877p1.html)

Gamespot Review (9.3) (http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/reviews/0,10867,2868062,00.html)

GameSpy Review (94) (http://www.gamespy.com/reviews/june02/gta3pc/)

Looking at these review scores it's very good :D

The game engine has a few problems with certain hardware - set ups.

So you may find that it may not run on your PC

Yesterday evening I play a One level demo of Medal Of Honor: Frontline on the PS2 for six hours!

My pre-ordered copy will be landing on my doorstep any minute now :D

I've play MOH:F a lot now and what do I have to say? What a masterpiece.

Everything about the game is quality. The graphics do what they need to, the Nazi's look good. There are co-operative missions (the beaches and battling through a town so far) and the undercover missions as well as the solo missions. I've never myself been to war and experienced it first hand but I feel this is the closest you can come. The weapons are brilliant, the level design is perfect (you should see the war savaged vilages).

The best moment for me so far was going through an occupied town and taking about 20 Germans out in a short space of time and then going round a corner and coming face to metal with a German Panzer tank. I ran and screamed instantly...

In my opinion GTA 3 for the PC is much better than on the PS2. The gameplay is the same quality stuff, with the exception that the controls are much better with a keyboard and mouse, and if you have the PC for it you can run it at far higher resolutions than the PS2

Well I bought GTA3, but haven't been able to play it! My PC is the recommended spec (not the minimum, but the RECOMMENDED!), but it runs incredibly jerkily, and hangs frequently. My PC is quite new, and the box says that the game should work on it. So why am I having problems?

Check that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, and the latest version of Directx. I haven't been playing games much recently and didn't realinse another version of directx had come out, installed GTA3 and it crashed a couple of times. Realised I didn't have the latest version so I downloaded it, and GTA3 runs fine (if at a low res because of my shit graphics card :()

ohohoho........this is where my problems today began! I do have the latest version of DirectX, but decided to get the latest drivers for my graphics card (a NVIDIA GeForce 256). I installed the new drivers, and the display was completely messed up, so I uninstalled them. However, now I HAVE NO GRAPHICS DRIVERS AT ALL! I've tried installing earlier versions of the drivers, and always my display messes up  .

So at the moment I have 16 colours and a 640 x 480 display - help! I don't know what to do!

nVidia just released a new WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) certified driver on 11th of June. Use that driver. If you're still having problem with that driver, then it's not the driver that's causing the problem, it's other things in your computer. Always use WHQL drivers when possible because they're tested properly by MS...

good luck.

I'm thinking of getting it. I'm addicted to Command and Conquer renegade at the minute though. I've played through some of the missions, but I'm hooked on Multiplayer at the minute. They've managed to iron out a lot of the bugs now as well, so it's a decent game.
I wanna get Star Wars Galactic battlegrounds, is it any good?
