Does anyone know where i can buy cheap train tickets either online or via a telephone? Ive tried virgintrains.com and thetrainline.co.uk and have had no joy! Is it worth jumping on a train and not paying - although it will be a 7 hour journey! Any help will be much appreciated.
The only thing you can do is book a few weeks in advance and then you get a super advanced ticket. Trouble is you have to know exactly which trains you'll be on.
t's worth jumping the train but only if you think you have enough money to pay the fine when you're caught!;)

byny's right. You need to get your tickets well in advance to get the super cheapo tickets.
If you don't get a ticket in advance, they'll charge the full fare - so definitely buy beforehand. There's no chance of not getting caught out on a 7 hour journey ;)

I don't know howurgently you need them, but offeres don't come round that often. If you're not in a hurry to get them, look out for midland mainline offers because they do good offers to london, don't know if that's where you want to go, but they go quick so you have to book fast. Try phoning midland mainline and see if they have any good offers on

Dead thread.
What dates are you wanting to travel? Do you have a railcard? Are you flexible as to when you need to travel?
Two cheap singles will be better providing you can find them.

Book two singles then. Remember you have to travel on the exact train you book for.
If you dont want to commit to a set train buy a normal return.

oh! i meant they work out more!!!!!! im just going to have to keep searching!!:chin:
The cheapest return is £28 without railcard. One change at Leicester. Go out on the 30th Sept return any day within 1 month.
Alternatively you could buy tickets Bedford - Leicester return (£12) and Leicester - Birmingham (£13) to make a small saving.
If you aren't sure what you want or when you should visit a train station ticket office - they are the experts and will be able to help you far better.
