this has pissed me of this time, owen and anderton have pulled out, beckham and gerrard look set to follow all using lame excuses. The FA need to come down on the clubs and players responsible, this is an important match in our world cup preperation and for key players to decide they need a rest is a disgrace, most of them are in squad rotation systems now anyway, it should be a privilage to represent your country not a grind. I would set a rule that any player who pulls out of a squad can not play in any competion for two weeks

I agree, internationals should take precedent over club duties, and not just for England games. I am shocked when big name non-Europeans such as Kanu pull out of internationals and the clubs start whining about how they pay them, SHUT UP

Annoys the hell out of me. There are people, well like us, who would do anythin to represent their country and will most likely never get the chance. We've all done stuff we didn't wanna and I think "I dont really wanna play for England next week" is a serious problem. Its a higher level of football and every second Sven and the team get together this close to the World Cup is vital.

Me and a few mates were put in a situation last year where we were expected to play for school when we had a weekday match for our Sunday team. The sunday team is a much higher standard of football and of course we all wanted to play in that (competition for places is very fierce). FA ruling says school football comes first . As it happans 3 of us faked injuries and 2 just played the first 20mins (leaving the school team looking, well, shite)

It is a disgrace that they have dropped out. Owen aparently has a knee ligament injury - see if he can recover for Saturday then...

Especially Anderton for crying out loud. His place in the World Cup team is there if he wants it. He's good enough to play. Has he played in an England game under Sven yet? Obviously doesn't want it enough...

I'll play left midfield - even though I'm a right winger and would be missing my GCSEs...

If Owen has ligament damage or anderton hamstring trouble fair enough, but the fa should slap a 2-3 week ban on them to ensure they recover wonder how injured they would be then

Here, here. Does anyone know if selected players are checked by FA medical officials when they say they are injured, they should be I dont trust some of the clubs especially ManU and Arsenal.

Well they should be! Shall we petition the FA or we could go and check them ourselves

I can understand when they have to pull out of the squad with an injury, fair enough. But i cant see there reason that MANAGERS ask for players not to be involved because of upcoming fixtures. that is what really anoys me. The FA should then make them un-selectable for the next international, or make a stipulation that any player found to be not injured but pulls out of the squad should get match ban.
