I am going to travel in Europe for a few weeks after uni finishes (June). I cannot wait, I just want to know..where are essential places I should visit whilst I am going round?

It depends what type of place you like to visit!

Do you like ancient ruins, big cities, country, or just scenery in general? All that will play into where you like most to visit.

Personally my favorite cities are in Italy- I love Rome and I love Venice. Over Christmas was my first time there but I also got to see both cities at a down-time for tourism. I'm sure that they are a lot different in the middle of the summer.

If you're looking for a place less touristy or less busy even maybe try some place in Switzerland? The mountains are gorgeous and I loved wandering around the small little towns.

You'll have to keep us updated on your plans!

IMHO Rome is not worth a visit. The only reason would be the Colosseum and Vatican City, but you can live without seeing either.

Try Paris & Munich. Anywhere in Holland (especially if you're into cycling). Spain.

Whereabouts did you want to go? And how are you planning to travel between places: train, car? That'll make a difference in your choices.

I will travel either by coach or train (whichever is cheaper). I've already been to France, Spain and Belgium so would prefer to go to other places. I'm doing a voluntary work placement first, then I'm gonna travel before coming home. I'm so excited!! :-)

Are you going alone or with friends?

I went travelling with friends before I started uni. Maybe it's just me but I'd be a bit freaked travelling around on my own.

Have a good time, but just watch out for pickpockets in Calais, that's my advice.
