Cheap flights and accomodation?

Me and my mum are looking to go away for a few days before i go to uni!!!
Does anyone know any cheap on-line / telephone flight companies. I do live in Leicester so East Midlands, Birmingham, Luton airports are best.
Possibly looking at NEW YORK, PARIS or somethign along those lines. We're just after a cheap deal...... with or without accomodation. Anyone help????

If you want a city break, it may be better to book last minute...you can often get 3 night paris deals for £99 each (flights and accomodation)

As for airlines:
Ryanair (http://www.ryanair.com/), Go (http://www.go-fly.com/templates/Homepage/homepage.jsp?text_id=homepage&language=EN)and easyjet (http://www.easyjet.com/en/) are good for cheap european flights...
