Just idle curiosity, I was wondering if the rate of new starters on the BB has gone up lots recently. Do you have any figures??

We have an average of 15 registrations a day, according to Dom.

How does that stack up compared to 6 months ago, is the new advertising producing a significant effect??

Bluddy hell - you guys are nosier than a nosy thing. Since you're asking, it's about double what we were getting 6 months ago.

Has anyone seen our ads about then?

i've seen the adverts - over on virginstudent.com, but they're a bit serious. u get over here and no-ones really talking bout STD's, they just bang about nething, really. which is gr8, but not what the ads say . . . . . . . . .

from the ads i thought this was sum kinda NHS funded drugs and sex advice site, not discussion boards

There is a LOT more to thesite than discussion boards. The boards are only a small part, maybe you should take a look around!

i have two questions:

1) what is 'the BB'?
and
2) what's going on with this whole anti-newbie vibe i feel around the site? <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/confused.gif"> just because we're new 2 this webpage doesnt mean we're new 2 life & experiences that could help others . . . . <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif"> <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">

1.BB=Bulletin Board, which is what this part of Thesite is.
2.It's a sense of ownership, the people who have been here for a long time, like myself like to feel that the new people joining are going to contribute to Thesite content, make themselves heard without being a twat about it. To us who never left after being here for so long, Thesite grows on you, we like to think we look after it, and hopefully influence the lives in someway of the new people who join. A lot of the new people who do join, very few of them stay, sort of like one hit wonders, and this can be quite irritating.

What sort of anti-newbie feelings are you getting?? I know I was made to feel very welcome when I first started, but there are always bound to be a few newbie jokes and general piss-ripping.

Anyone else feel they're getting a rough time about anything?? (Not you Steelgate)

I know what you mean lol. I didn't get any anti-newbie feelings. I was made to feel welcome straight away. Or maybe I'm too thick skinned!

Steelgate can't reply as the only thing he can do is read the politics page and use the keys:
CTRL+C
CTRL+V

You don't think he writes anything himself do you?!!?!?

If you look on the side nav bars you will find links to all our main channels, with advice on sex, drugs, relationships, the law, careers, health, money, action and housing. If you wanted advice on STDs go here: http://www.thesite.org/sex/sexual_health/

As for the rest of TheSite, the homepage is a good place to start <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"> http://www.thesite.org/

Hope this helps

The computing guy who sorts all the problems out at my uni also has an obsession with 'hope this helps' except he goes one step further and signs off 'HTH, Tony'.

Always makes me laugh. He uses other abbreviations too so most of his messages are cryptic to me.
