I start a Psychology degree in two weeks. I am nervous because I don't know anyone on this course, I am always pretty quiet when meeting new people, how should I break the ice? (I am hoping that sitting in the pub will be enough to make friends with all the scary new people I will meet?)
Freshers Week... what is the best pulling technique I should adopt? My plan is: Drinking myself unconscious and hoping a pretty new student will take me to the halls to have her way with me. Anything better?

oooh where are you going to do this degree? that's what i want to do, only i want to do it at cardiff but they wouldnt let me in with the grades i got, so im going back to do some retakes and an AS in psychology hopefully. so ill be off next year instead... gives me chance to earn a bit of money beforehand at least
just try and be a bit outgoing and friendly, talk to people, ask what courses theyre doing, what a levels they did, where they come from, stuff about the uni and the places you're living, the work maybe if theyre on the same course, that kinda thing

The first week of uni is absolutely brilliant- dont worry about anything- go out loads- go and talk to people coz they're probably too shy or nervous to go and talk to you. Join everything you can, and as a golden rule, don't sleep all day coz there's lots of stuff happening (dont be daunted by your hangover - most of the students in the country will have one too, so go out and do stuff! Yaay!

The degree has started pretty well, I'm at Central Lancashire and my psychology course is wall-to-wall women ! Honestly, it must be at least a 5:1 ratio, you have to love it ! I can't wait for summer and skimpy tops, I'll never be away ! Pulled on Fresher's week too, and I'm still meeting loads of interessting new people every lecture... it certainly beats working for a living!
