I just need some advice. I am in my first year of a degree at Cardiff uni, which is considered very good for the subjects I am taking. I like the subjects and find them challenging. Apart from that though, I am very unhappy here in my social life and the fact that I miss my boyfriend. I have been looking into changing unis next year. The trouble is, I don't think I woud get into Birmingham uni and the other unis around there are crap. I did well in my A Levels and don't see the point of going to a uni where you only need 2 C grades to get in. Sorry if I sound snooty, but I don't care! So what should I do? I realise that it may look stupid to give up a good degree to be with my boyfriend, but I can't face the thought of 3 years living like this. We are engaged and lived together before I came to uni.

OK, now if you are serious about moving universities I would suggest you a) read the article below and b) talk to a careers advisor before making any final decisions.
http://www.thesite.org.uk//careers/student_life/the_wrong_course.html

Secondly, I think you should think long and hard about quitting or moving uni, if it is the social life you are finding a problem, moving again will just mean more upheaval to start all over again. If the course is good and interesting maybe you should try to stay put and find some way to spend more time with your man...
another couple of articles here: http://www.thesite.org/student/long_distance_love__its_on!.html

I hope it all works out for you

I agree with susie here, you need to give it time and a chance and you may start to enjoy cardiff a bit more. Otherwise, if you did well in your A levels why wouldnt you get into Birmingham? Dont think you should rule anything out without enquiring! Ah well, let us know what you decide and I hope it works out for you <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif">
